Abstract

Un motor de combustión interna (1) de relación de compresión variable se provee con un mecanismo (2) de relación de compresión variable en el cual una relación de compresión mecánica del motor de combustión interna (1) cambia de conformidad con una posición rotacional de un eje (18) de control, un tope (50) del lado de baja relación de compresión, un tope (60) del lado de alta relación de compresión, un detector (42) para detectar una posición rotacional de un eje (22) de accionamiento de un accionador (24), y un brazo (30) ajustado a presión sobre el eje (22) de accionamiento. La rotación relativa entre el brazo (30) y el eje (22) de accionamiento se produce cuando se ha aplicado un momento de torsión que excede un momento de torsión de límite superior. Se hace que el eje (22) de accionamiento o el eje (18) de control se mueva a posiciones de restricción restringidas por los topes (50, 60) respectivos, y posteriormente se ejecuta un diagnóstico sobre la presencia o la ausencia de la rotación relativa, con base en los valores detectados en las posiciones de restricción respectivas.
