Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método de mejora de la recuperación de petróleo, caracterizado porque comprende: (a) inyectar agua en un yacimiento de petróleo con fluido alcalino o un fluido que contiene un compuesto tóxico para microorganismos nativos para reducir la concentración de microorganismos que tienen la capacidad de utilizar hidrocarburos de cadena corta de aproximadamente 12 carbonos o menos; (b) inocular el yacimiento de petróleo con un consorcio que comprende microorganismos que son naturalmente, o han sido manipulados para ser tolerantes alcalófilos, haloalcalófilos o alcalinos obligados y que son, o han sido manipulados para ser, deficientes en su capacidad de utilizar hidrocarburos de cadena corta de 12 carbonos o menos, pero tienen la capacidad de convertir los hidrocarburos en ácidos grasos, (c) permitir que el consorcio prolifere y degrade hidrocarburos de más de 12 carbonos, y (d) obtener una recuperación mejorada de petróleo del yacimiento de petróleo, en donde la etapa (c) se desarrolla bajo condiciones alcalinas. La presente invención se refiere al campo de recuperación micribiana mejorada ( MEOR). En particular, la invención se refiere a métodos microbianos novedosos, eficientes, económicos y seguros para el ambiente para mejorar la recuperación de petróleo, así como a los microorganismos útiles en tales métodos. .
