Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a enzimas que degradan el dicamba, aisladas, y por lo menos purificadas parcialmente, moléculas de ADN aisladas que codifican las enzimas que degradan el dicamba, constructos de ADN que codifican las enzimas que degradan el dicamba, células huésped transgénicas que comprenden el ADN que codifican las enzimas que degradan el dicamba, plantas o partes de plantas transgénicas que comprenden una ó más células que comprenden el ADN que codifica las enzimas que degradan el dicamba. La invención además proporciona un péptido de tránsito para usarlo en una construcción de ADN que comprende dichas enzimas que degradan el dicamba que dirige la oxigenasa que degrada el dicamba a las organelas de las células de las plantas. La expresión de las enzimas que degradan el dicamba da como resultado la producción de organismos que degradan el dicamba, incluyendo plantas tolerantes al dicamba. La invención proporciona además un método para controlar la maleza en un campo que contiene plantas transgénicas tolerantes al dicamba de la presente invención y un método para descontaminar un material que contiene dicamba que comprende la aplicación al material de una cantidad efectiva de un microorganismo transgénico o enzimas que degradan el dicamba de la invención. Finalmente, la invención proporciona un método para seleccionar plantas o células de plantas transformadas basadas en la tolerancia al dicamba y un método para seleccionar o clasificar las células huésped transformadas, organismos intactos y partes de organismos basados en la fluorescencia de ácido 3,6-diclorosalicílico producido como un resultado de la degradación de dicamba.
