Abstract

La invención se refiere a un espirómetro de mano portátil (1) que comprende un sensor térmico de flujo de fluido basado en sistemas microelectromecánicos (MEMS, por sus siglas en inglés) (13, 13.1, 13.2) para generar una señal en respuesta a un flujo de fluido generado durante la inhalación o exhalación; y un microcontrolador (14) para calcular el flujo de fluido a partir de la señal generada por el sensor de flujo (13, 13.1, 13.2). El espirómetro (1) puede conectarse a otros dispositivos, como un teléfono inteligente o un ordenador personal o cualquier otra unidad de cómputo que se adapte para recopilar, almacenar, analizar, intercambiar y/o visualizar datos. La invención describe, además, el uso del espirómetro (1) para medir el rendimiento pulmonar de un usuario y/o monitorearlo a lo largo del tiempo. Además, el espirómetro (1) puede proporcionarse en un sistema junto con un dispositivo de medición de la calidad del aire para determinar la calidad del aire en un lugar de interés; y una unidad de cómputo para recopilar, analizar y correlacionar los datos de rendimiento pulmonar del usuario obtenidos a partir del espirómetro (1) con los datos de calidad del aire, y opcionalmente con los datos de geolocalización de dicha ubicación.
