Abstract

Métodos para proteger fetos porcinos de la infección por el virus del síndrome reproductivo y respiratorio porcino (PRRSV). Los métodos comprenden aparear un animal porcino hembra con un animal porcino macho. El animal porcino hembra comprende secuencias cromosómicas modificadas en ambos alelos de su gen CD163, en donde las secuencias cromosómicas modificadas reducen la susceptibilidad del animal porcino hembra a la infección por PRRSV, en comparación con la susceptibilidad a la infección por PRRSV de un animal porcino hembra que no comprende ninguna secuencia cromosómica modificada en los alelos de su gen CD163. El animal porcino macho comprende al menos un alelo CD163 de tipo silvestre.
