Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a plantas resistentes a los patógenos. En un aspecto, se proporcionan plantas que comprenden un casete de expresión heterólogo, en donde el casete de expresión comprende un polinucleótido que inhibe la expresión de un gen patógeno fúngico y en el que la planta tiene mayor resistencia a un patógeno fúngico o múltiples patógenos en comparación con una planta de control que carece del casete de expresión. En otro aspecto, poner en contacto una planta o una parte de la planta con ARN bicatenarios o sRNA pequeños que inhiben la expresión de un gen o genes objetivo fúngicos de múltiples patógenos, en donde la planta tiene mayor resistencia a un patógeno o múltiples patógenos en comparación con las plantas de control que no se ha contactado con los ARN. También se proporcionan métodos para fabricar y cultivar plantas resistentes a los patógenos.
