Abstract
Un aparato y proceso para desmantelar térmicamente neumáticos y otros materiales. El aparato es una cámara de retorta con diversas zonas en las cuales los neumáticos se someten a combustión para proveer energía para la reacción de despolimerización térmica, la despolimerización tiene lugar y los productos salen de la cámara de retorta. En una realización, el proceso hace reaccionar agua con el hierro presente en los neumáticos con correas de acero para producir hidrógeno, lo cual contribuye a romper los enlaces de azufre-azufre de los materiales vulcanizados. El agua también contribuye a controlar la temperatura de la reacción, lo cual permite el control sobre los tipos y cantidades relativas de los diversos productos de despolimerización.
