Abstract
Es apreciado de forma amplia, que las fuentes de energía renovables son deseables. En particular, en los últimos años se ha fomentado el desarrollo del biodiesel con el fin de encontrar un reemplazo para los combustibles fósiles en los motores de combustión interna. Típicamente, dicho biodiesel se basa en triacilgliceroles de origen vegetal. La grasa animal, debido a su diferente composición química y proceso de producción presenta desafíos adicionales cuando se intenta utilizar como fuente de combustible. La mayoría de los métodos conocidos requieren un procesamiento extenso de las grasas naturales para que puedan usarse en motores convencionales. Según la presente invención, se proporciona un método para oxidar grasas orgánicas dentro de un motor de combustión interna para generar energía aplicando una primera carga eléctrica a un oxidante (por ejemplo, aire) y aplicando una segunda carga eléctrica a la grasa orgánica opuesta en polaridad a la primera carga eléctrica. De esta manera, los constituyentes de la grasa orgánica que se va a oxidar se atraen al oxidante, de preferencia a la superficie interna de la cámara de combustión. Por lo tanto, la carbonización de la superficie interna de la cámara de combustión se reduce, ya que el material que contribuye a la carbonización se retiene dentro del gas de escape.
