Abstract
Un proceso de flujo continuo para la preparación de uno o más ésteres de ácido láctico y ácido 2-hidroxi-3-butenóico o análogos de a-hidroxi-metionina a partir de un azúcar en presencia de un catalizador de ácido de Lewis sólido y un solvente que comprende un solvente orgánico y agua. La invención proporciona un medio para estabilizar un catalizador de ácido de Lewis para el uso en un proceso de reacción continuo donde el agua está presente en una cantidad de hasta o igual a 10% en volumen del solvente orgánico.
