Abstract
Un motor de combustión interna de cuatro ciclos tiene una compresión de pre-enfriado de una o varias etapas, que permite que la temperatura y la presión del aire de admisión hacia los cilindros de combustión sean estrechamente controladas, de tal manera que un índice de compresión y una presión de compresión pre-ignición más altas sean fácilmente alcanzadas sin acercarse al umbral de auto-ignición de la mezcla de aire/combustible. El umbral mínimo de presión de la admisión de aire está determinado para ser > 1.8 Bares al nivel del mar y una caída mínima de temperatura de por lo menos 500°C en el radiador de intercambio de calor con enfriamiento de aire. Debido a que este diseño puede regular efectivamente y establecer la temperatura máxima de pre-ignición de la mezcla de aire/combustible, puede quemar virtualmente cualquier tipo de combustible de hidrocarburo líquido sin detonación del motor. Este motor de cuatro ciclos, debido a su mayor índice de compresión, genera una potencia equivalente o mayor a la potencia de un motor estándar de cuatro ciclos en un espacio menor y más liviano y a una mayor eficiencia.
