Abstract
Unos compuestos que contienen bromo, tales como el bromuro de calcio, el bromuro de sodio y similares, se preparan con alta pureza y con mayor rapidez con menos residuos usando un procedimiento con dos etapas de bromación y con frecuencia una tercera etapa en la que la mezcla de productos brutos puede ser ajustada para cumplir unos requisitos específicos de los productos. En la primera etapa de bromación, la mayoría, pero no la totalidad, de un substrato es bromada usando una reacción de bromación reductiva, el restante substrato sin reaccionar es convertido en un producto en la segunda etapa mediante otra reacción de bromación reductiva, aunque los reactivos específicos pueden ser diferentes, en donde la adición de bromo y de un agente reductor se vigilan cuidadosamente.
