Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un proceso para el aislamiento de ácido levulínico de una solución orgánica, que comprende lavar dicha solución orgánica con una corriente acuosa alcalina para producir una solución orgánica lavada; someter la solución orgánica lavada a una destilación para producir un destilado y un residuo de destilación; y recuperar el ácido levulínico del destilado o del residuo. Este proceso puede resultar en altas producciones de ácido levulínico.
