Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una pulpa kraft modificada con propiedades únicas. La fibra modificada puede ser una fibra kraft blanqueada y modificada que es casi indistinguible de su contraparte convencional, excepto en que tiene un menor grado de polimerización (DP). Se proveen métodos para la elaboración de fibra modificada y productos preparados a partir de ella. El método puede ser un proceso de tratamiento con peróxido catalizado con fierro, de una etapa ácida, que puede incorporarse en una sola etapa de un proceso de blanqueo de etapas múltiples. El producto puede ser materias primas de celulosa química, materias primas de celulosa microcristalina, pulpas fluff y productos hechos a partir de éstas.
