Abstract
Disclosed is a process for production of dissolving-grade pulp from pineapple fiber which is suitable for use in the preparation of viscose rayon, cellulose ethers and cellulose esters such as cellulose acetate. The decorticated pineapple fiber is treated with a double alkali extraction and double bleaching process in an open vessel stainless container at 96 - 100°C temperature, followed by washing, neutralization, drying and grinding.
