Abstract
La descripción actual proporciona métodos para producir 5-(halometil) furfural, incluyendo 5-(clorometil) furfural, por conversión catalizada por ácido de biomasa. Los métodos hacen uso de ciertos solventes orgánicos con solubilidad dependiente de la temperatura para 5-(halometil) furfural. Esto permite una separación de fase dependiente de la temperatura del 5-(halometil) furfural de la mezcla de reacción. En ciertas modalidades, puede obtenerse el 5-(halometil) furfural sólido. El 5-(halometil) furfural sólido obtenido puede ser amorfo o cristalino.
