Abstract

Un ensamble de alineación de fibra óptica hermético, que incluye una primera porción de férula que tiene una primera superficie provista con una pluralidad de ranuras que reciben las secciones de extremo de fibras ópticas, en donde las ranuras definen la ubicación y orientación de las secciones de extremo con respecto a la primera porción de férula, y una segunda porción de férula que tiene una segunda superficie orientada a la primera superficie de la primera férula, en donde la primera porción de férula está fijada a la segunda porción de férula con la primera superficie contra la segunda superficie, en donde se define una cavidad entre la primera porción de férula y la segunda porción de férula, en donde la cavidad es más ancha que las ranuras, y en donde una sección suspendida de cada fibra óptica está suspendida en la cavidad, y en donde la cavidad está sellada con un sellador. El sellador se extiende alrededor de las secciones suspendidas de las fibras ópticas dentro de la cavidad. Se proporciona una abertura al menos en una de la primera porción de férula y la segunda porción de férula, exponiendo la cavidad, en donde el sellador es alimentado a través de la abertura. En otro aspecto, el ensamble hermético proporciona una alineación óptica y un alimentador hermético para un módulo opto-electrónico. En un aspecto adicional, el ensamble hermético proporciona alineación y una terminal para acceso a un módulo opto-electrónico.
