Abstract

Se describe a un método y un aparato para mejorar la densificación de un sustrato poroso usando un proceso de ebullición en película (es decir, densificación más cercana a la superficie del sustrato) proporcionando selectivamente una suerte de barrera que reduce el enfriamiento de la superficie del sustrato que está siendo densificado, producida por contacto con el precursor líquido en ebullición relativamente fresco del material de densificación, tal como carbón. En particular, el contacto entre el sustrato y el precursor líquido se reduce usando una o ambas de barreras físicas (tales como un material de malla) o estructuras que promueven la formación de una capa gaseosa aislante entre el sustrato y el precursor líquido (por ejemplo una placa con una separación muy cercana apartada de la superficie del sustrato poroso). La barrera se mueve en posición de operación antes de que el nivel de potencia aplicado aumente bruscamente (como se conoce) cerca del fin del proceso de densificación por ebullición en película.
