Abstract
Se presenta la composición de una aleación de Aluminio-Silicio que cumple con las condiciones de manufactura y operación para monobloques de motor vaciados, utilizando procesos de fundición de bajo costo tales como moldes de arena sílica. La aleación de la invención consiste en porcentaje en peso de: 13%-14% Si; 2.3%-2.7% Cu; 0.1%-0.4% Fe; 0.1%-0.45% Mn; 0.1%-0.30% Mg 0.1%-0.6% Zn; 0.05%-0.11% Ti; 0.4%-0.8% Ni; 0.01%-0.09% Sr; y el balance siendo esencialmente Aluminio mas residuales. Esta aleación tiene muy buenas características de maquinabilidad, otorgando una mejora en el acabado superficial del área de los cilindros. El costo de manufactura de los bloques de motor se reduce en un 40% cuando se compara con la utilización de aleaciones comerciales del estado del arte previo que requieren camisas de hierro. Cualquier partícula de Silicio primario presente se encuentra substancialmente dispersa de forma uniforme, y el Cobre no es segregado durante la solidificación o el enfriamiento.
