Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para combertir cuando menos un quelato de metal polivalente, de menor estado, de valencia, a un quelato de metal polivalente en el cual el metal está en un estado de valencia superior caracterizado porque comprende:(a) introducir una solución alcalina acuosa de dicho quelato de metal polivalente de menor estado de valencia a un pH controlado, en un compartimiento de anodo de una celda el electroquímica, teniendo la celda de ánodo poroso que tiene una elevada área de superficie y una membrana permaselectiva que separa el compartimiento de ánodo del compartimiento de cátodo; y (b) oxidar electroquímicamente el quelato de metal polivalente, de menor estado de valencia, a un quelato de metal polivalente de mayor estado de valencia, manteniendo el potencial ánodo de la celda por encima de oxidación del quelato de metal polivalente, pero por debajo del potencial de oxidación de la porción de quelato del quelato de metal polivalente.
