Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a proceso para producir plomo electrolítico y azufre elemental desde galena, caracterizado porque comprende las siguientes etapas: a) lixiviar galena con una solución acuosa ácida de fluoborato ferrico, con fluoborato ferroso, fluoborato de plomo y azufre elemental que se forman según la reacción: 2 Fe(BF4)3 + PbS 2Fe(BF4)2 + Pb(BF4)2 + S b) separar por filtración el residuo sólido producido en la etapa a) que comprende azufre elemental y ganga de la galena; c) someter una solución de fluoborato ferroso y fluoborato de plomo formado en la etapa (a) a electrólisis en una celda electrolítica de diafragma, en donde se deposita plomo puro en el cátodo de la celda y se oxidan los iones ferrosos a iones ferricos en un ánodo de la celda; y d) recircular una solución de fluoborato ferrico regenerado en el ánodo en esa etapa (c) a la etapa (a) con el fin de que la solución tome parte en la etapa de lixiviación de la galena.
