Abstract

1353149 Bearing alloy GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 13 July 1971 [22 April 1970] 19311/70 Heading C7A and C7B A bearing material consists of 5-75% Cd, the remainder being Pb or Pb containing 5-25% Sn. The material may be applied as a layer, e.g. 0À00025-0À0025 inch thick, on a backing having higher coefficient of friction and greater strength, e.g. of Cu - Pb or Al - Sn alloy. The backing may be coated in an electrolytic bath which is a solution of lead fluoborate 20 - 250 parts by weight cadmium fluoborate 50 - 300 parts by weight The bath may also contain fluoboric acid 10 - 200 parts by weight boric acid 0 -100 parts by weight an addition agent 0 - 20 parts by weight the latter comprising one or more of proteins, sulphonamides, nicotine, quinones, polyethylene glycol, goulac, phenol, peptones. Tin fluoborate may also be included when tin is to form a constituent of the bearing material.
