Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a procedimiento para la preparación de un pigmento de dióxido de titanio revestido que tiene, depositados sobre el mismo, un revestimiento interno amorfo, denso, de sílice y un revestimiento externo de alúmina, caracterizado porque comprende: formar una lechada acuosa de un pigmento de dióxido de titanio sin revestir, añadir una cantidad predeterminada de un compuesto de silicato soluble en agua a dicha lechada caliente, ajustar rápidamente el pH de dicha lechada caliente a un valor de 9,2 a 9,4 aproximadamente, al mismo tiempo que se mantiene dicha lechada caliente a dicha temperatura elevada, para completar el período de deposición y curado de dicho revestimiento interno de sílice; continuar la adición de dicho compuesto que contiene aluminio, soluble en agua, a dicha lechada caliente y ajustar adicionalmente el pH de dicha lechada caliente a un valor de 6,5 a 8,5 aproximadamente y recuperar dicho pigmento de dióxido de titanio revestido substancialmente como se produce.
