Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a filtro de cerámica para filtrar hierro vaciado fundido, fabricado a partir de un material de cerámica de fusión elevada y que tiene una estructura de espuma de celda abierta, con cuando menos una superficie de entrada para el hierro vaciado, este filtro de cerámica comprende una región interior circundada con una región externa en donde la densidad volumétrica de la región externa de filtro de cerámica es más elevada que la densidad volumétrica de la región interior del filtro de cerámica, caracterizado en que tiene una relación de superficie de filtro a volumen de filtro en la escala de aproximadamente 0.0003 a 9m2/cm3, una resistencia de filtro específica en la escala de aproximadamente 0.-1 a 0.9 bar-cm a un régimen de flujo de flúido de 5 m3/hora y una pérdida de presión p a través del filtro que dpende de la resistencia específica del filtro, l longitud L del filtro y el área superficial F de entrada, de acuerdo con la relación: F/L el material de cerámica comprende de 20 a 70 por ciento por peso de carburo de silicio, de 10 a 40 por ciento por peso de óxido de aluminio, de 2 a 20 por ciento por peso de óxido de silicio y de 10 a 30 por ciento por peso de un aglutinante inorgánico refractario.
