Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a método para fabricar un artículo de cerámica que comprende un material de carga funcionalmente inerte en lo sustancial incorporado en una matriz de cerámica de un producto de reacción de oxidación, que incluye los pasos de: (a) orientar un cuerpo de un metal madre y una masa permeable de material de carga uno en relación al otro para infiltración del producto de reacción de oxidación dentro de la masa permeable; (b) en presencia de un oxidante en fase vapor, fundir el cuerpo de metal madre y hacer reaccionar el metal en fusión con el oxidante para formar producto de reacción de oxidación, calentando hasta una temperatura predeterminada y mantener a dicha temperatura por lo menos una porción de dicho producto de reacción de oxidación en contacto con, y entre dicho cuerpo de metal en fusión y dicho oxidante, para atraer progresivamente metal en fusión a través del producto de reacción de oxidación hacia el oxidante y el material de carga de modo que la reacción de oxidación continúa para formar dentro de dicha masa de material de carga en la interfase entre el oxidante y el producto de reacción de oxidación previamente formado y continuar dicha reacción durante un tiempo suficiente para infiltrar por lo menos una porción de dicha masa de material de carga, caracterizado porque comprende: (c) la masa permeable que comprende un primer sistema de poros constituido por porosidad entre las partículas distribuidas a través de la masa y un segundo sistema de poros constituido por porosidad intra-partícula también distribuido a través de toda la masa, estando definidos ambos sistemas de porosidad dentro, o entre, porciones del material de carga y siendo por lo menos las porciones del material de carga que definen el segundo sistema de poros estructuralmente estables, durante la infiltración del producto de reacción de oxidación en la disposición de definición de poros mantenida.
