Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para controlar la densidad de soporte de una estera intumescente alrededor de un substrato frágil de dimensión desconocida, pero variada, cuando el substrato se instala en un convertidor catalítico monolítico, en el alojamiento de dimensión fija, caracterizado en que el método comprende las etapas de: seleccionar al azar un substrato frágil; y envolver suficiente capas de convolución de estera de mica alrededor del substrato frágil seleccionado, para efectuar un subconjunto de estera/substrato resultante de dimensión predeterminada para compensar las variaciones en la dimensión del substrato, mediante lo cual la densidad de soporte de estera permanece dentro de valores predeterminados cuando se instala en el alojamiento de convertidor, independientemente de las variaciones en la dimensión del substrato seleccionado.
