Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para producir un éster metacrílico, el cual se caracteriza porque comprende oxidar catalíticamente el isobutileno, butanol terciario, metacroleína o aldehido isobutílico, en una fase de vapor, remover las substancias de bajo punto de ebullición desde el producto de reacción resultante, por medio de destilación o separación; extraer el ácido metacrílico desde la solución acuosa resultante de ácido metacrílico, usando un hidrocarburo alifático de cadena saturada, que tiene 6 a 9 átomos de carbono, como el solvente; recuperar el solvente desde la solución de solvente obtenida del ácido metacrílico; esterificar el ácido metacrílico resultante por su reacción con un alcohol alifático inferior o un alcohol alicíclico inferior, que tienen 1 a 12 átomos de carbono, que emplea una resina de intercambio de cationes, fuertemente ácida, porosa, como un catalizador para la esterificación; y luego someter el producto de reacción de esterificación, así obtenido a una etapa de purificación.
