Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a aparato para iluminación que incluye un canal para transmisión óptica, que tiene una pluralidad de fibras transmisoras ópticamente, cada una con un núcleo de material transparente a la radiación, con un índice elegido de refracción, para recibir radiación en las fibras desde una fuente, caracterizado porque cada una de las fibras incluye en la superficie del núcleo, cuando menos sobre porciones elegidas de su longitud, un material de revestimiento transparente a la radiación, con índice diferente de refracción al índice elegido; en que cada una de las fibras tiene una dimensión seccional transversal, para soportar la propagación de radiación sobre un eje alargado en una modalidad que incluye un componente de propagación de radiación, que está lateralmente orientado con respecto a la dimensión alargada para emitir radiación a través del material de refuerzo transparente a la radiación; y en que cada una de las fibras incluye dispersores de radiación en las fibras en una dirección que tiene un componente lateral para emerger del material de revestimiento transparente, al menos sobre las porciones elegidas de su longitud.
