Abstract

본체 및 대향 수직 아암들을 구비한 절연 하우징을 포함하는 카드 에지 커넥터가 기재되어 있다. 하우징의 본체는 종방향 홈을 갖는 카드 수용면을 구비한다. 상기 홈은 대향한 제1 측면 및 제2 측면을 가지며, 제1 측면 및 제2 측면은 적어도 하나의 제1 접촉자 수용 개구 및 제2 접촉자 수용 개구를 각각 구비한다. 또한, 상기 본체의 카드 수용면에는 홈의 제1 측면의 개1 개구와 연통하는 적어도 하나의 오목부가 있다. 또한, 하우징 본체의 대향면에는 홈의 제2 측면의 제2 개구와 연통하는 적어도 하나의 오목부가 있다. 제1 접촉자는 본체의 카드 수용면의 오목부 내에 고정되어 상기 제1 개구를 통하여 홈 내로 연장된다. 제2 접촉자는 본체의 상기 대향면의 오목부 내에 고정되고 상기 제2 개구를 통하여 홈 내로 연장된다. 따라서, 하우징 내에 접촉자를 장착시킴으로써 하우징과 카드를 결합시키는 효과적인 수단이 제공된다. 또한 금속 삽입체가 하우징의 수직 아암에 인접하여 제공되어 과잉 응력에 대한 보호 및 다른 장점도 제공하게 된다.

제5도는 도1에 도시된 DIMM 소켓의, 카드와의 결합 이전의 절결 정면도.
제6도는 도1에 도시된 DIMM 소켓에 사용되는 접촉자의 평면도.

Claims (28)

  1. 대향 제1 측면 및 제2 측면을 갖는 종방향 홈을 구비한 카드 수용면 및 대향면이 있는 본체와, 대향 수직 아암들을 구비하는 절연 하우징을 포함하며, 상기 제1 측면 및 제2 측면은 적어도 하나의 제1 접촉자 수용개구 및 제2 접촉자 수용 개구를 각각 구비하고, 상기 본체의 카드 수용면에는 종방향 홈의 제1 측면의 제1 개구와 연통하는 적어도 하나의 오목부가 있으며, 상기 본체의 대향면에는 홈의 제2 측면의 제2 개구와 연통하는 적어도 하나의 오목부가 있고, 제1 접촉자는 본체의 카드 수용면의 오목부 내에 위치되어 상기 제1 개구를 통해 홈 내로 연장되며, 제2 접촉자는 본체의 대향면의 오목부 내에서 고정되어 상기 제2 개구를 통해 홈 내로 연장되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 제1 접촉자는 카드 수용면의 오목부 내에 고정되는 본체와, 우선 상기 본체의 대향면을 향해 그리고 나서 카드 수용면을 향해 상기 오목부 내로 연장된 후에 제1 개구를 통해 홈 내로 연장되는 아암을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 제2 접촉자는 본체의 대향면의 오목부 내에 고정되는 본체와, 우선 대향면을 향해 그리고 나서 카드 수용면을 향해 연장된 후에 제2 개구를 통해 홈 내로 연장되는 아암을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 오목부 내에는 축방향 홈이 구비되고, 본체로 부터의 돌출부는 상기 홈과 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  5. 제2항에 있어서, 제1 접촉자의 아암은 제1 개구 내로 연장되고 둥글게 되어 있는 단자 단부를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 아암은 탄성을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 아암은 접촉자의 본체를 향해 압축 가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  8. 제2항에 있어서, 제1 개구는 종방향 홈과 오목부 사이에 있는 횡방향 홈인 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  9. 제2항에 있어서, 본체의 카드 수용면의 오목부는 횡방향으로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  10. 제3항에 있어서, 본체의 대향면의 오목부 내에는 축방향 홈이 구비되고, 제2 접촉자의 본체의 돌출부는 상기 홈과 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  11. 제2항에 있어서, 제2 접촉자의 아암은 제2 개구를 통해 홈 내로 연장되는 단자 단부를 가지며, 상기 단자 단부는 둥글게 된 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  12. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제2 접촉자의 아암은 탄성을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 제2 접촉자의 아암은 제2 접촉자의 본체로부터 멀리 압축 가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  14. 제2항에 있어서, 제2 개구는 종방향 홈과 하우징의 대향 측면의 오목부 사이에 있는 횡방향 홈인 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  15. 제3항에 있어서, 하우징의 대향면의 오목부는 횡방향으로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  16. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 홈은 본체의 대향면의 오목부의 적어도 일부분에 걸쳐 중첩되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  17. 제1항에 있어서, 카드 에지 커넥터는 단지 단부들을 구비하며, 상기 단자 단부들은 둥글게 되어 있고, 카드가 종방향 홈 내로 경사져 삽입되고 나서 상기 홈과 동일 평면의 위치로 피벗되도록 서로 이격된 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  18. 본체 및 대향 수직 아암을 구비하고, 카드를 수용하는 종방향 홈을 갖는 카드 수용면이 있으며, 수직 아암에 인접하여 지지 수단이 있는 절연 하우징을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 에지 커넥터.
  19. 제18항에 있어서, 상기 수직 아암에 인접한 지지 수단은 금속 삽입체인 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 금속 삽입체는 하우징의 본체에 고정된 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  21. 제20항에 있어서, 금속 삽입체는 과잉 응력에 대하여 하우징을 보호하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  22. 제20항에 있어서, 금속 삽입체는 종방향 홈 내에 삽입된 카드에 대하여 멈춤 수단을 제공하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  23. 제20항에 있어서, 금속 삽입체는 납땜 가능한 죔쇠 수단을 제공하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  24. 제20항에 있어서, 금속 삽입체는 횡방향 탱을 각각 구비한 수직 부재이고, 각각의 수직 아암은 내향 축방향 돌출부를 구비하며, 과잉 응력에 대한 보호는 상기 횡방향 탱과 상기 축방향 돌출부 사이의 상호 작용에 의해 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  25. 제24항에 있어서, 각각 내향 축방향 돌출부는 종방향 부재 및 횡방향 레그를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  26. 제25항에 있어서, 상기 금속 삽입체의 횡방향 탱은 축방향 돌출부들 중 하나의 종방향 부재와 맞닿으며, 축방향 돌출부의 횡방향 레그는 금속 삽입체들 중 하나의 맞닿는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드 에지 커넥터.
  27. 종방향 홈을 갖는 카드 수용면 및 대향면을 구비하는 본체와, 상기 본체로부터 수직으로 돌출된 대향 아암들을 구비한 하우징을 포함하는 에지 커넥터에 카드를 장착하는 방법에 있어서, 둥근 단자 단부를 갖는 제1 전도성 접촉자와, 둥근 단자 단부를 갖는 제2 전도성 접촉자를 상기 종방향 홈과 인접하여 위치시켜 상기 둥근 단자 단부들이 서로로부터 수평 및 수직으로 이격되도록 하는 단계와, 상기 둥근 단자 단부들 사이에서 종방향 홈에 대해 경사진 위치로 카드를 삽입하는 단계와, 카드를 상기 홈과 동일 평면인 위치로 카드를 피벗시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  28. 제27항에 있어서, 상기 제1 전도성 접촉자는 본체의 카드 수용면의 횡방향 오목부 내에 삽입되고, 제2 전도성 접촉자는 본체의 대향면의 횡방향 오목부 내에 삽입되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
