Abstract
일면 상에 입사되는 주변 및 관찰자를 향해 후방 산란되는 상태와 입사가시 광이 매체를 통해 다른면의 광 흡수기로 매체를 통해 전달되어 관찰자가 어두운 디스플레이를 감지하고, 광기전 구조(25)가 전달되는 가시광에 응답하여 출력 전압을 생성하기 위한 광 흡수기로 이용되는 상태간에 스위칭할 수 있는, PDLC 재료 등의, 액정 매체(20)를 갖는, 예를들면 페이퍼 화이트형 디스플레이의 밝은 배경 상에 어두운 문자를 디스플레이 할 수 있는 액정 디스플레이 소자(10), 휴대용 컴퓨터 등의 장비에서 생성된 전력은 배터리 전원(45)을 보충하는데 이용될 수 있다.

Claims (6)
- 액정 매체층, 에너자이징 전압 인가층이 마주보이는 면 상에 위치한 전극의 셋, 적어도 상기 층의 전면적으로부터 입사된 가시광이 후방 산란(back-scattered)된 제1상태와 상기 입사광이 액정 매체를 통해 후면으로 전달된 제2상태간의 스위칭 가능한 액정 매체 및, 그를 통해 전달된 입사 가시광을 흡수하기 위해 액정 매체층의 후면에 위치한 광 흡수기를 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 소자로서, 상기 광 흡수기는 액정 매체를 통해 전달된 가시광에 응답하여 출력 전압을 생성하는 광기전 구조(photovoltaic structure)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광기전 구조는 광 다이오드 구조를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 소자.
- 제1 또는 제2항에 있이서, 상기 액정 매체는 PDLC 재료를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 소자.
- 제1 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 광기전 구조는 상기 디스플레이 소자의 디스플레이 영역에 대응하는 영역에 걸쳐 연속적인 구조로 확장하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이 소자.
- 제1 내지 제4항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 액정 디스플레이 소자의 광기저 ??구조의 전기적 출력이 공급되는 장치는 전력 축적 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 장치.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 장치는 제어 수단을 포함하여 상기 제어 수단에 의해 결정된 시간에 적어도 상기 디스플레이 소자의 디스플레이 영역의 실질적 부분을 상기 제2상태로 스위칭되게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 장치.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
