Abstract

출력 장치는 일반 문자 폰트에 속하는 래스터 스캐닝 문자에 사용되는 문자 기술을 얻을 수 있다. 문자 기술은 통신 채널에 의하여 상기 출력 장치와 연결된 외부 장치에 저장된다. 출력될 문자를 인지하는 출력될 문자의 래스터 이미지는 셋업된다. 이 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 과정에서, 문자코드에 해당하는 정보는 통신 채널을 통하여 출력장치에서 외부 장치로 전송된다. 프린터에서 외부 장치로 전송된 문자 코드에 따라, 해당 문자기술이 통신 채널을 통하여 외부 장치에서 출력 장치로 전송된다.

Claims (12)

  1. 출력 장치에서 일반 문자 폰트에 속하는 문자를 출력하는 방법에 있어서, 통신 채널에 의하여 상기 출력장치와 연결된 외부 장치에 일반 문자폰트의 각 문자에 대한 문자 기술을 저장하는 단계; 출력 장치에서 출력될 문자를 인지하는 문자 코드를 수신하는 단계; 출력될 상기 문자의 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 단계; 상기 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 과정에서, 상기 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 출력 장치에서 상기 외부장치로 상기 문자코트에 해당하는 정보를 전송하는 단계; 및 상기 출력 장치에서 상기 외부 장치로 전송된 문자 코드에 따라, 상기 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 외부 장치에서 출력 장치로 해당 문자 기술을 전송하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 외부 장치는 대용량 기억장치를 갖는 컴퓨터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 문자 코드는 제2의 독립 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 출력 장치로 전송되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제2의 통신 채널은 병렬 또는 직렬 채널을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 출력 장치에서 수신된 상기 문자 코드는 그래픽 이미지 기술 언어에 적합한 페이지기술 내에 삽입하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 그래픽 이미지 기술은 포스트스크립트 언어를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 일반 문자 폰트는 아시아 언어의 폰트를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 출력 장치는 프린터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  9. 일반 아시아 문자 폰트에 속하는 문자를 포스트스크립트 프린터에서 인쇄하는 방법에 있어서, 주통신채널과 보조 통신 채널에 의하여 상기 프린터에 연결된 호스트 컴퓨터에 문자 기술을 저장하는 단계; 주통신채널을 통하여 상기 호스트 컴퓨터에서 상기 프린터로 인쇄될 문자를 인지하는 문자 코드를 포함하는 포스트스크립트 페이지 기술을 전송하는 단계; 상기 프린터에서 인쇄될 상기 문자의 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 단계; 상기 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 과정에서, 보조 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 프린터에서 호스트 컴퓨터로 문자코드를 전송하는 단계; 및 상기 프린터에서 상기 호스트 컴퓨터로 전송된 상기 문자 코드에 따라, 해당 문자기술을 보조 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 호스트 컴퓨터에서 상기 프린터로 전송하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  10. 출력 장치에서 일반 문자 폰트에 속하는 문자를 출력하는 장치에 있어서, 외부 장치에 위치하는, 문자기술을 위한 기억 장치와; 상기 출력장치를 상기 외부 장치로 연결하는 통신채널과; 출력될 문자를 인지하는 문자 코드를 수신하는, 상기 출력 장치의 포트와; 출력될 상기 문자의 래스터 이미지를 셋업하는 문자 설정기와; 상기 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 출력 장치에서 상기 외부 장치로 상기 문자 코드에 해당하는 정보를 전송하는 수단과; 상기 통신 채널을 통하여 상기 외부 장치에서 상기 출력 장치로 해당 문자 기술을 전송하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 외부 장치는 대용량 기억 장치를 갖는 컴퓨터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
  12. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 출력 장치를 상기 외부 장치에 연결하는 제2의 독립 통신 채널을 추가로 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
