Abstract

본 발명은 종래의 컬러 STN-LCD에서 문제가 되고 있던 표시불균일이 없고, 고표시품질, 저코스트의 컬러 STN-LCD를공급하는 것을 목적으로 하고, 그 구성에 있어서, 액정층의 트위스트각을 200°이상 360°미만으로 하고 액정층의 지연을 0.80㎛ 이상, 0.90㎛ 이하로 하고, 위쪽편광판의 투과측의 방위각은 30°이상 70°미만으로, 아래쪽편광판의 투과축의 방위각은 60 이상 90°이하로 하고, 위쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 150°이상 190°이하로 하고, 아래쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 30°이상 80°이하로 하고, 위쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 200㎚ 이상 300㎚ 이하로 하고, 아래쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 500㎚ 이상 620㎚ 이하로 한 것을 특징으로 한 액정표시장치이다.

Claims (7)

  1. 상하 1쌍의 기판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판에 끼워둔 액정층과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 상부에 배치된 위쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 하부에 배치된 아래쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 위쪽편광판과의 사이에 배치된 위쪽위상판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 아래쪽편광판과의 사이에 배치된 아래쪽위상판을 가진 액정표시장치에 있어서,상기 액정층은 200°이상 360°미만의 트위스트각을 가지고, 액정층의 층두께와 복굴절률의 곱은 0.80㎛ 이상 0.90㎛ 이하이고, 위쪽편광판의 투과축의 방위각은 30°이상 70°이하이고, 아래쪽 편광판의 투과축의 방위각은 60°이상 90°이하이고, 위쪽위상판의 지연상측의 방위각은 150°이상 190°이하이고, 아래쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 30°이상 80°이하이고, 위쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 200㎚ 이상 300㎚ 이하, 아래쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 550㎚ 이상 620㎚ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  2. 상하 1쌍의 기판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판에 끼워둔 액정층과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 상부에 배치된 위쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 하부에 배치된 아래쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 위쪽면광판과의 사이에 배치된 위쪽위상판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 아래쪽편광판과의 사이에 배치된 아래쪽위상판을 가진 액정표시장치에 있어서, 상기 액정층은 200°이상 360°미만의 트위스트각을 가지고, 액정층의 층두께와 복굴절률의 곱은 0.84㎛ 이상, 0.88㎛ 이하이고, 위쪽편광판의 투과측의 방위각은 35°이상 65°이하이고, 아래쪽편광판의 투과축의 방위각은 65°이상 85°이하이고, 위쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 160°이상 180°이하이고, 라래쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 40°이상 70°이하이고, 위쪽 위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서, 지연은 220㎚ 이상 280㎚ 이하, 아래쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 540㎚ 이상 600㎚ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  3. 상하 1쌍의 기판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판에 끼워둔 액정층과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 상부에 배치된 위쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판의 하부에 배치된 아래쪽편광판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 위쪽편광판과의 사이에 배치된 위쪽위상판과, 상기 1쌍의 기판과 아래쪽편광판과의 사이에 배치된 아래쪽위상판을 가진 액정표시장치에 있어서, 상기 액정층은 200°이상 360°미만의 트위스트각을 가지고, 액정층의 층두께와 복굴절률의 곱은 0.85㎛ 이상, 0.87㎛ 이하이고, 위쪽편광판의 투과측의 방위각은 45°이상 55°이하이고, 아래쪽편광판의 투과축의 방위각은 70°이상 80°이하이고, 위쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 165°이상 180°이하이고, 아래쪽위상판의 지연상축의 방위각은 50°이상 60°이하이고, 위쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 250㎚ 이상 270㎚ 이하, 아래쪽위상판의 파장 550㎚에 있어서의 지연은 540㎚ 이상 590㎚ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 1쌍의 기판 중 적어도 한쪽의 위에 블랙미트릭스를 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 블랙매트릭스는 상기 1쌍의 기판위에 형성된 적극의 비교차부분에 배치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 1쌍의 기판 중 적어도 한쪽의 위에 컬러필터를 구비하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 1쌍의 기판 중 적어도 한쪽의 위에 주사하는 전극을 배치하고, 상기 전극에 인가되는 주사펄스간의 시간의 역수가 120㎐ 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
