Abstract

그리드주기가 비교적 긴 때 조차도 손실율이 적고 가시파장과 근적외파장영역에서 실질적으로 양호한 편광콘트라스트의 광을 제공하는 편광광학소자가 공개된다. 굴절율 n1으로 기판(2)상에 형성된 금속그리드(1)는 "h"가 그리드의 단면의 두께, "b"는 단면 저변에서 0.5h 떨어지고 그와 평행한 라인을 따라 측정된 단면의 폭, "d"는 그리드주기, "s"는 단면의 저변과 사변이 이루는 각일때, 0.2〈h/d〈0.9, 0.5〈b/d〈0.9, 70°〈s〈110°의 조건을 만족한다.

제1도는 본 발명의 와이어그리드(wire grid) 편광자를 나타내는 도식적 단면도이다, 제2도(A) 및 (B)는 제1도의 와이어그리드 편광자에 대하여 입사각을 설명하는 도식적 도면이다.

Claims (5)

  1. 여러개의 와이어금속부분들로 구성된 그리드가 기판상에 형성되고, 상기 그리드가 "h"는 각 와이어부분들의 단면의 두께, "b"는 0.5h 떨어지고 그와 평행한 라인을 따라 측정된 단면의 폭, "d"는 그리드주기, "s"는 단면의 저변과 사변이 이루는 각일때, 각각 0.2〈h/d〈0.9, 0.5〈b/d〈0.9, 70°〈s〈110°의 조건을 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 편광광학소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, n1이 상기 기판의 굴절율이고, ""는 상기 그리드부분들로 입사되는 광학빔의 파장일때, 상기 그리드주기 "d"가/(2n1)〈d〈/)1,1n1)의 조건을 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 편광광학소자.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 그리드가 Au 및/또는 Al로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 편광광학소자.
  4. 여러개의 와이어금속부분들로 구성된 그리드부분과, 상기 그리드부분들을 끼우는 제1 및 제2광투광층과, 상기 각각의 와이어금속부분들 사이에 부과된 광투과부분과를 포함하는 편광광학소자에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2과투과층의 굴절율이 n2, n3이고, 상기 광투과부분의 굴절율이 n4일때, |n4-n2|〈0.2,|n3-n2|〈0.2의 조건이 만족되는 것을 특징으로 하는 편광광학소자.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 광투과층이 유리이고, 상기 그리드가 Au 및/또는 Al로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 편광광학소자.
