Abstract

본 발명은 변조기 어레이들 간의 오배열 영향을 개선하는 방법 및 그 방법을 사용하는 시스템을 제공한다.
오배열의 영향을 감소시키면 다수의 보다 소형의 보다 비싼 효율적인 어레이들이 하나의 대형 어레이 대신 사용되게 한다. 이것은 어레이, 특히 디지탈 마이크로미러 디바이스와 같은 반도체 제조 공정들을 사용하여 생산된 어레이들의 제조 비용을 감소시킬 수 있다.
2개 또는 그 이상의 변조기 어레이들(1702, 1704)의 오배열에 의해 야기된 가시 아티팩트들을 방지하기 위해, 개별 어레이들은 오버랩되고 이미지 부분은 2개의 어레이들에 의해 발생된다. 오버랩 어레이들에 의해 결합된 출력으로의 기여도는 변하는데, 각 어레이는 오버랩된 영역(1706)의 한 단부에는 적게 기여하고 오버랩된 영역(1706)의 다른 단부에는 많이 기여하게 한다. 변조기 어레이들(1712)의 오버랩 부분들은 이미지의 일부를 총괄적으로 형성하기 때문에, 배열 에러는 전체 오버랩 부분(1706)에 효과적으로 확산되고 보다 덜 두드러지게 된다.

제19도는 본 발명에 따른 이상적인 간격 보다 10%작은 간격으로 이격된 단일 20-픽셀 스캔 라인을 협동해서 이미지화하는데 사용된 제17도의 2개의 오버래핑 30-소자 변조기 어레이들에 의해 단일 스캔 행 양단의 정전 프린터 드럼 내로 투영된 광의 강도 분포를 도시한 도면,
제20도는 제19도에 도시된 노광에 의해 프린트된 한 단일 행의 점들을 도시한 도면.

Claims (11)

  1. 한 영역 위에 출력을 각각 발생할 수 있는 2개 또는 그 이상의 변조기들 간의 오배열의 영향을 개선하는 방법에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 다른 변조기의 출력 영역의 일부로 각 변조기로부터의 출력 영역의 일부를 오버랩하는 단계; 및 모든 변조기로부터의 오버랩된 부분의 총 출력이 희망 값(desirde value)이 되도록 출력 영역의 오버랩된 부분에서 각 변조기로부터의 출력을 감소시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 변조기들 간의 오배열 영향 개선 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 감소 단계는 오버랩된 부분 양단의 출력 영역의 오버랩된 부분에서 각 변조기로부터의 출력을 선형으로 감소시키는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 변조기들 간의 오배열 영향 개선 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 오버랩 단계는 2개 또는 그 이상의 LED로부터의 출력을 공통 영역에 포커싱(focussing)하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 변조기들 간의 오배열 영향 개선 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 오버랩 단계는 2개 또는 그 이상의 DMD로부터 반사된 광을 공통 영역에 포커싱하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 변조기들 간의 오배열의 영향 개선 방법.
  5. 영역 상에 분배된 출력을 각각 발생시킬 수 있는 적어도 2개의 변조기들; 각 변조기로부터의 출력 영역의 적어도 한 부분이 오버랩하도록 변조기들을 상대적으로 배치하여 각 변조기가 오버랩된 부분으로의 출력에 기여하도록 하기 위한 수단; 및 상기 오버랩된 부분의 출력 레벨이 오버랩된 부분 외부의 출력 레벨과 동일하도록 각 변조기로부터의 출력 강도를 조정하기 위한 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 강도를 조정하기 위한 수단은 적어도 하나의 프로세서를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  7. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 변조기들은 DMD인 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  8. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 변조기들은 LED인 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  9. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 이미징 시스템은 프린터인 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  10. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 이미징 시스템은 건식 인쇄(xerographic) 프린터인 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
  11. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 이미징 시스템은 가시 디스플레이 시스템인 것을 특징으로 하는 이미징 시스템.
