Abstract
본 발명은 러빙처리가 불필요한 광시각액정표시 패널에 관한 것으로서, 액정층은 단차 또는 벽면에 의해서 구획된 액정단위셀로 이루어지고, 무전전계시에 액정분자는 기판에 대해서 실질적으로 수평으로 배열하고 있고, 또한 여러 가지의 방위를 가진 액정 도메인으로 이루어진 동시에, 상기 투명기판의 바깥쪽에 적어도 1매의 편광판을 구비함으로써, 러빙처리를 행하지 않고 시야각의 확대를 도모하는 것을 목적으로 한것으로서, 그 구성에있어서, 2매의 전극(103,104) 부착기판(101,102)에 끼워지고 적어도 기판면 부근에서는 주위가 고분자벽(110)에 의해서 포위된 대략 원형의 미소단위액정셀로 이루어지고, 또한 상기 단위액정셀의 액정층의 두께방향의 중심부를 통과해서 기판에 평행한 면에 존재하는 액정분자가 평행면 내의 여러 가지의 방향에 대해서 거의 균등한 비율로 배향하고 있고, 적어도 1매의 편광판(107,108)을 가지고, 상기 액정의 정의유전율이방성을 가진 네마틱액정재료(109)인 것을 특징으로 한 것이다.

제1도는 본 발명의 일실시예에 의한 액정표시패널의 단면도.
제2도는 본 발명의 일실시예에 의한 액정표시패널의 90°비틀림구조를 가진 단위액정셀의 액정분자의 배향을 표시한 개념도.
Claims (13)
- 표면에 투명전극을 가진 적어도 1쌍의 투명기판의 사이에 액정층이 존재하는 액정표시패널에 있어서 상기 액정층은 단차 또는 벽면에 의해서 구획된 액정단위셀로 이루어지고, 무전전계시에 액정분자는 기판에 대해서 실질적으로 수평으로 배열하고 있고, 또한 여러 가지의 방위를 가진 액정도메인으로 이루어진 동시에, 상기 투명기판의 바깥쪽에 적어도 1매의 편광판을 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항에 있어서, 단차 또는 벽면에 의해서 구획된 액정단위셀이, 고분자와 액정이 복합체 및 고분자겔과 액정의 복합체로부터 선택되는 적어도 1개의 복합체인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제2항에 있어서, 적어도 기판부근에서는 주위가 고분자벽에 의해서 포위된 거의 원형의 미소단위 액정셀로 이루어지고, 또한 상기 단위액정셀의 액정층의 두께방향의 중심부를 통과해서 기판에 평행한 면에 존재하는 액정분자가 평형면 내의 여러 가지 방향에 대해서 실질적으로 균등한 비율로 배향하고 있고, 액정분자가 기판계면에서 기판에 대해서 실질적으로 평행하게 배열하고 있고, 상기 액정이 정의 유전율이방성을 가진 네마틱액정재료인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제3항에 있어서, 단위액정셀의 거의 중앙부에 1개의 배향결함을 가지고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 액정층의 비틀림각이 실질적으로 90°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 배향처리를 실시하지 않고 여러 가지의 방위를 가진 액정도메인을 형성시킨 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 단위액정셀의 평균직경이 액정층의 두께이상이고, 또한 화소피치 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 편광판의 교차각이 거의 90°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 액정재료의 자발피치 P와 액정층의 두께 d와의 비 d/p가 거의 0.25인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 단차 또는 벽면에 의해서 구획된 액정단위셀이, 1개의 화소보다도 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 단차의 높이가 셀두께보다도 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 단차의 높이가 1㎛이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.
- 제1항에 있어서, 여러 가지의 방위를 액정도메인으로 이루어진 액정표시패널에 있어서, 적어도 2매의 편광판을 교차시키고, 또한 교차한 편광판의 적어도 한쪽의 편광축에 시야각방향을 가진 특징으로 하는 액정표시패널.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
