Abstract

아날로그 정보 및 디지털 정보를 동시 통신하는 다수의 장치 및 방법. 일반적으로, 통신채널이 다차원 공간으로 간주될때, 디지털 정보 신호가 심볼로 분할되고 심볼은 신호공간에서 미리 조절된 거리로 대응한다. 일반적으로 심볼을 이격시키는 거리보다 작은 크기로 제한된 아날로그 신호는 성분 신호로 변환되어 심볼에 더해진다(백터 뎃셈). 합신호는 수신기로 전송되고, 이 수신기에서 심볼이 검출되고 수신신호로부터 빼져서 아날로그 신호 성분이 만들어진다. 상기 원리를 활용하는 장치는, 디지털포트를 포함하는 시스템이 아나로그 통신채널에서 유리할 수 있고, 역으로 아날로그포트를 포함하는 시스템이 디지털 통신 채널에서 유리할 수 있는 응용 장치이다.

Claims (22)

  1. 모뎀(modem)으로서, 디지털포트에서 대응기(mapper)에 인가되는 디지털 신호와 아날로그포트에서 대응기에 인가되는 아날로그 신호를 갖는 신호 대응기(sig nal mapper)와, 복수의 N차원 볼륨(volume)으로만 구성된 N차원 신호공간으로 나타낼 수 있는 변조된 출력신호를 상기 신호 대응기에 응답해서 변조기의 출력포트에서 만들어 내는 변조기로서, 각각의 볼륨에 있는 소정의 점(point)은 상기 대응기에 인가된 디지털 신호를 통해 인가된 디지털 심볼과 연관되고 각 볼륨의 다른 점들은 상기 신호 대응기에 인가된 아날로그 신호에 연관될 때의 상기 변조기와, 상기 변조기의 출력포트와 상기 모뎀의 출력포트를 결합하는 결합수단(means for coupling)으로 구성된 모뎀.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 아날로그포트에 인가된 제어신호를 검출하고 제어신호를 모뎀에 인가하기 위한 제어수단으로서 상기 아날로그포트에 연결된 제어 수단을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제어수단은 아날로그포트에 접속된 전화 설비의 오프-후크 상태(off-hook condition)를 검출하는 수단일 때의 모뎀.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제어수단은 소정의 누름단추 신호열(touth-tone signal sequence)을 검출하는 수단일 때의 모뎀.
  5. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제어수단은 디지털포트에도 접속되고 상기 디지털 포트에 나타나는 제어신호를 검출하도록 조정된 때의 모뎀.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 모뎀 출력포트와 변조기의 출력포트 사이에 있으며 모뎀의 동작 상태에 응답하는 스위치 수단으로서, 모뎀의 동작 상태가 어떤 값에 있을 때에는 모뎀 출력포트를 변조기 출력포트에 접속하고 모뎀의 동작상태가 상기 값과는 다른 값에 있을 때에는 모뎀출력포트를 아날로그 포트에 접속하는 스위치 수단을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 디지털포트에 접속된 사용자 기기(user appliance)를 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 모뎀의 출력포트에 접속된 PBX를 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  9. 제8항에 있어서, 모뎀의 아날로그포트가 상기 PBX에 연결된 모뎀.
  10. 제8항에 있어서, 모뎀의 디지털포트가 상기 PBX에 연결된 모뎀.
  11. 제1항에 있어서, 아날로그 입력에 접속된 무선 기지국(wireless base sttaion)을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 무선기지국은 휴대용 전화 기지국(cordless telephon base station)이며, 상기 모뎀은 디지털포트에 접속된 디지털 사용자 장치를 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  13. 제1항에 있어서, 전화기를 연결하도록 고정된 아날로그포트를 가지며, 모뎀의 디지털포트에 결합된 전자 오락기기를 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  14. 제13항에 있어서, 상기 오락기기의 결합된 영상 표시 수단을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  15. 제1항에 있어서, 아날로그포트에 결합된 TV 시스템을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  16. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 TV시스템이 디지털포트에도 연결될 때의 모뎀.
  17. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 TV시스템은 광대역포트에서 인가된 신호에 응답하는 대역 분할 수단과도 연결되며 모뎀의 출력포트도 상기 대역분할 수단에 응답할 때의 모뎀.
  18. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 모뎀이 PCMCIA 표준에 맞도록 플러그 접속 조립체(pluggable assembly)에서 구현되는 모뎀.
  19. 제1항에 있어서, 휴대용 컴퓨터가 모뎀의 디지털포트에 연결된 모뎀.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 모뎀의 출력포트에 접속된 무선송수신회로를 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  21. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 아날로그포트에 연결되고 전화기능을 구현하는 제1수단과, 상기 디지털포트에 연결되고 영상표시수단을 포함하는 제2수단을 더 구비하는 모뎀.
  22. 제21항에 있어서, 출력포트가 전화망에 접속되도록 한 모뎀.
