Abstract

잉크냉각식 잉크제트 프린트 카트리지(20)는 기재(30)의 배면에 효율적인 열교환기(22)를 구비하여 히트싱트의 필요를 제거하였다. 본 발명에 따르면, 가열실(40)로 흐르는 모든 잉크(38)는 열교환기(22)를 통과한다. 열교환기(22)의 기하학적 구조는, 프린트헤드가 흡수한 잔류열의 대부분이 잉크가 가열실(40)로 흘러들어갈 때 잉크로 전달되도록 선택한다. 게다가, 열교환기(22)를 통해 흐르는 잉크의 압력저하는 그것이 가열실(40)의 재충전 속도를 대폭 감소시키지 않을 만큼은 낮아야 한다. 열교환기(22)는 하나이상의 열교환기 활성면을 가질 수 있다. 열교환기는 그것 자체의 열적 매체를 거의 갖지 않으며 히트싱크의 필요를 제거함으로써 프린트헤드의 열적 매체를 대폭 감소시킨다. 이에 따르면, 프린트헤드의 위밍업시간이 수분의 1초로 단축된다.

Claims (9)

  1. 잉크제트 프린트내의 잉크를 분사하는데 적합한 프린트카트리지를 냉각하기 위한 장치로서, 활성시 상기 카트리지로부터 노즐을 통해 잉크방울을 선택적으로 분사하여 상기 프린트카트리지내에 열을 발생시키는 복수개의 가열저항기와, 상기 가열저항기에서 발생된 열을 잉크로 전달하기 위해서 상기 잉크 및 상기 가열저항기의 양자와 열적으로 연통가능하게 배치되는 열교환기를 상기 프린트 카트리지내에 포함하는 장치에 있어서, 상기 열교환기는 : 1과 d는 열교환기의 길이 및 깊이이고, α는 잉크의 열확산율, Q′은 단위채널폭당 체적흐름속도, △P는 최대 프린트헤드 가열율에서 열교환기를 가로지른 압력저하, △Pref는 노즐을 가로질러 최대 모세관 압력 상승분과 동일한 기준 압력차이고, T1은 열교환기를 떠나는 잉크 대부분의 압력, T0는 열 교환기로 들어가는 잉크의 온도이며, Tw는 열교환기내 열활성표면의 온도인 경우로 규정되는 85%보다 큰 효율(E)과 무한정 종횡비변수(A) 및 압력저하(P)를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 프린트카트리지 냉각장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 이중 측면 열교환기의 경우 A는 약 0.06 보다 크고 P는 약 0.25 보다 작은 것을 특징으로 열교환기.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 단일측면 열교환기의 경우 A는 약 0.18 보다 크고 P는 약 0.25 보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 열교환기.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 열교환기는 약 0.2 내지 0.3㎝의 유효길이(1)와 약 0.010㎝ 내지 0.015㎝의 유효길이(d)를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 열교환기.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 열교환기는 상기 가열저항기에서 발생된 열을 상기 잉크로 전달하기 위해서 거의 무시할 수 있을 만한 열커패시턴스를 갖는 열활성 전도성부재를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 열교환기.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 가열저항기는 열교환기내 잉크의 등온선과 평행하고 열교환기내 잉크의 흐름방향과 수직한 주축을 갖는 선형어레이내에 배치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 열교환기.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 열교환기는 하나의 열활성 표면을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 열교환기.
  8. 잉크제트 프린터내의 잉크를 분사하는데 적합한 프린트카트리지를 하기 위한 냉각장치로서, 잉크방울을 상기 카트리지로부터 선택적으로 분사하여 상기 프린트 카트리지내에 열을 발생시키며, 상기 프린트 카트리지내에 관련 가열실을 갖는복수개의 가열저항기와, 상기 가열 저항기에서 발생된 열을 상기 잉크로 전달하기 위해서 상기 잉크 및 상기 가열저항기의 양자와 열적으로 연통가능하게 상기 프린트카트리지내에 제공되는 열교환기와, 상기 열교환기를 둘러싸는 복수개의 벽을 포함하는 프린트 카트리지 냉각장치에 있어서, 상기 벽은 상기 열교환기와 상기 가열저항기를 둘러싸는 거의 단열성 벽이어서, 상기 가열저항기에서 발생된 거의 모든 열 상기 가열실 근방의 잉크로 전달되도록 된 것을 특징으로 하는프린트카트리지 냉각장치.
  9. 제8항에 있어서, 상기 거의 단열성 벽은 단열성 물질로부터 제조되어서, 상기 프린트카트리지내에서 발생된 열은 잉크방울의 열에너지로서 상기 프린트카트리지로부터 배출되고 열 대류에 의해서는 상기 프린트 카트리지로부터 거의 배출되지 않도록 된 장치.
