Abstract

본 발명은 고분자 분산 네마틱 액정 표시소자와 그 구동방법에 관한 것으로서, 특히 메모리 기능을 가지는 고분자 분산 네마틱 액정표시소자에 관한 것이다.
본 발명의 액정 표시 소자는 양기판의 내면에 전극이 대향되게 마련되고, 그 내면에 액정이 충진된 것에 있어서, 양기판의 내면에는 액정의 배향을 위 배향막이 형성되어 있고, 상기 액정은 네마틱으로서 폴리머와 같이 혼합되어 있고, 상기 액정에 전극에 소정 전위의 소정 주파수 신호를 인가하여 상기 액정이 제1 또는 제2안정 상태에서 상기 기판에 대한 나란하게 배항되는 제2 또는 제1안정 상태로 배향되게 하는 단계와, 상기 제1 또는 제2안정 상태에서 상기 제2 또는 제1안정 상태로 복귀시키기 위하여 소정전위의 고정 전압을 인가하도록 하는 단계가 포함한다.

제1도는 액정이 제1안정상태를 유지하는 본 발명에 따른 액정 표시 소자의 단면도.
제2도는 제2안정상태를 유지하는 본 발명에 따른 액정 표시 소자의 개략적 단면도.
제3도는 주파수 증가에 따른 액정의 유전률(△ε)의 변화를 나타내 보인 그래프.

Claims (3)

  1. 양기판의 내면에 전극이 대향되게 마련되고, 그 내면에 액정이 충진된 것에 있어서, 양기판의 내면에는 액정의 배향을 위한 배향막이 형성되어 있고, 상기 액정은 네마틱으로서 플리머와 같이 혼합되어 있는특징으로 하는 고분자 분산 네마틱 액정 표시 소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정은 프지티브형 또는 네가티브형인 것을 특징으로 하는 고분자 분산 네마틱액정 표시 소자.
  3. 평행한 기판의 내면에 전극이 형성되고 전극의 상부에는 배향막이 형성되고, 이들의 사이에 고분자와 혼합된 포지티브형 뉴메틱 액정이 위치되고, 상기 액정은 그 배향 방향이 산재된 제1안정 상태를 유지하도록 된 액정 소자를 구동항에 있어서, 상기 액정에 전극에 소정 전위의 소정 주파 신호를 인가하여 상기 액정이 제1안정 상태에서 상기 기판에 대한 나란하게 배향되는 제2안정 상대로 배향되게 하는 단계와, 상기 제2안정 상태에서 상기 제1안정 상태로 복귀시키기 위하여 소정 전위의 고정 전압을 인가하도록 하는 단계가 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 고분자 분산 네마틱 액정 표시 소자의 구동 방법.
    4 평행한 기판의 내연에 전극이 형성되고, 전극의 상부에는 배향막이 형성되고, 이들의 사이에 고분자와혼합된 네가티브형 뉴메틱 액정이 위치되고, 액정의 배향 방향이 기판에 나란하도록 배치된 제2안정 상태를 유지하도록 된 액정 표시 소자를 구동함에 있어서, 상기 액정에 전극에 소정 전위의 소정 주파 신호를 인가하여 상기 액정이 제1안정 상태에서 상기 기판에 대한 산재되게 배향되는 제1안정 상태로 배향되게 하는 단계와, 상기 제1안정 상태에서 상기 제2안정 상태로 복귀시키기 위하여 소정 전위의 고정 전압을 인가하도록 하는 단계가 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 고분자 분산 네마틱 액정 표시 소자의 구동방법.
