Claims (5)

  1. +2보다 큰 유전 이방성 △ε를 갖는 극성성분 A와 -2내지 +2의 유전 이방성을 갖는 중성 성분 B로 필수적으로 이루어진 액정 매질에 있어서, 상기 극성성분 A가 하기 일반식(I)및 (Ⅱ)의 클로로 및 시아노 화합물을 기본으로 함을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질(이때, 일반식(I) 및 (Ⅱ)화합물의 전체 비율을 45중량%이상이며, 일반식(I) 및 (Ⅱ)화합물은 1:1 내지 10:1의 중량 비율로 함유된다):

    상기식에서, R1은 1 내지 12개의 C원자를 갖는 알킬이고, 이때 또한 하나 또는 2개의 인접하지 않은 CH2그룹은 0원자, -CO-, -O-CO-, -CO-O-및/또는 -CH=CH-그룹에 의해 치환될 수 있으며, Q는 트랜스 -1,4-사이클로헥실렌(Cy), -Cy-C2H4-,1,4-페닐렌(Phe) 또는 3-플루오로-1,4-페닐렌(PhF)이고, m은 0또는 1이며, A1은 Cy, Phe, PhF, 1,3-옥산-2,5-디일, 피리미딘-2,5-디일 또는 피리딘-2,5-디일이고, Z는 -CO-O-, C2H4- 또는 단일 결합이며, L은 H또는 F이다.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 극성분 A가 하기 일반식(I1) 및 (I2)로 이루어진 그룹으로부터 선택된 하나 이상의 화합물을 포함하는 액정 매질,

  3. 제1항 또는 제2항중 어느 한항에 있어서, 상기 극성 성분 A가 하기 일반식(I3)의 하나 이상의 화합물을 포함하는 액정 매질.

    상기식에서, R1, Q및 L은 제1항에서 정의한 바와 같다.
  4. 전광 디스플레이 소자용으로 제1항에 따른 액정 매질의 용도.
  5. 제1항에 따른 매질을 함유함을 특징으로 하는 전광 디스플레이 소자.
