Claims (5)

  1. 염화 지르코늄 또는 하프늄 또는 타이타늄을 금속 생성물로 환원시키는 방법에 있어서, 필수적으로 적어도 하나의 알카리 금속 염화물 및 적어도 하나의 알카리 토금속 염화물 및 염화 지르코늄, 하프늄 또는 타이타늄으로 구성된 용융염 혼합물을 생성시키기 위하여 염화 지르코늄, 하프늄 또는 타이타늄을 전해셀 내의 용융염욕속에 도입하는 단계 : 및 상기 알카리 토금속에 대하여 사기 셀을 환원 포텐샬로 작동시켜, 염화 지르코늄 또는 하프늄 또는 타이타늄과 반응하여 금속 지르코늄 또는 하프늄 또는 타이타늄 및 알카리 토금속 염화물을 생성하는 알카리 토금속을 생성시킴으로써, 상기 용융염욕내에서 전기화학적-금속 열역학적으로 염화 지르코늄 또는 하프늄 또는 타이타늄 금속 지르코늄 또는 하프늄 또는 타이타늄으로 환원시키는 단계를 포함하여서, 금속 지르코늄을 생성하고 금속내에는 지르코늄의 불용성부-염화물이 거의 없게 하며 분말형의 금속 하프늄 또는 타이타늄을 생성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 환원방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 용융염욕내의 용융염은 필수적으로 염화 리튬, 염화 칼륨, 염화 마그네슘 및 염화 지르코늄의 혼합물로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 환원방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 염화 리튬 및 염화 칼륨은 거의 공용 조성의 상대비로서 존재하는 것을 특징으로 하는 환원방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 염화리튬의 비율은 염화 리튬 약 59몰 퍼센트와 염화 칼륨 약 41몰 퍼센트인 것을 특징으로 하는 환원 방법.
  5. 제1항 내지 제4항에 있어서, 상기 욕은 360 - 500℃에서 작동되는 것을 특징으로 하는 환원 방법.
