Abstract

1286240 Polyterephthaloyl oxamidrazones GLANZSTOFF AG 2 Oct 1970 [9 Oct 1969] 46934/70 Addition to 1139279 Heading C3R Polyterephthaloyl oxamidrazones are obtained by reacting oxalic acid bisamidrazone with terephthaloyl chloride at 0 to 60‹ C. in a two-phase solvent mixture of water and purified tetrahydrofuran, the ratio of water to tetrahydrofuran being from 2:1 to 1: 2 by volume, with the addition of 7À5 to 30% by weight based on the water of lithium sulphate or lithium chloride as salting out agent and of an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate as an acid acceptor. The tetrahydrofuran may have been purified by contact with solid potassium hydroxide followed by distillation over sodium borohydride or potassium permanganate. Examples are given.
