Abstract
1320334 Separation of nickel TRADE & INDUSTRY SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 20 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 57289/69 Heading C1A Nickel is separated from cobalt and/or manganese by reacting under oxidizing conditions a solution of nickel and cobalt and/or manganese with a stoichiometric excess relating to the cobalt and/or manganese of an alkaline earth metal carbonate and removing the precipitated cobalt and/or manganese salt. The oxidizing conditions, which are preferably provided by chlorine gas, may be applied to the solution before or after the addition of carbonate. The metals may be present as sulphates. The carbonate is preferably limestone.
