Claims (4)

  1. 액정 매질 (여기에서 액정 매질은 조작상태에서 SA*,SB* 또는 SE*상으로 존재한다)에 전기임상효과를 이용하여 제조하는 전광학 스위치 및 표시(indicating)소자에 사용되는,
    중에서 선택된 극성 키랄그룹-Z*-을 단독, 또는 다른 성분과 혼합하여 함유하는 화합물의 용도.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 화합물이 일반식(A)에 상응하는 용도.
    R1-Z*-R2(A)
    상기식에서, R1및/또는 R2는 메소제닉(mesogenic)유기 라디칼이거나: 두 라디칼중 하나가 메소제닉이 아닐 경우, F, Cl, Br또는 CN으로 치환되거나 비치환되고, 또한 그룹(Ⅰ) 내지 (Ⅴ)에 직접 인접하지 않은 1개 또는 2개의 비인접 -CH2-그룹이 -O-,-S-,-CO-,-0-CO-,-C0-O-,-O-CS-,-CO-S- 및/또는 -CH=CH로 치환될 수 있거나, 말단그룹 -CH=CH2, -CH=C(CH3)2또는를 갖는 탄소수 1내지 20의 직쇄 또는 측쇄알킬그룹을 나타낸다.
  3. 극성 키랄 그룹(Ⅰ)내지 (Ⅴ)중 하나를 갖는, 제1항에 따른 하나이상의 화합물으 함유하는 SA*, SB* 또는 SE*상의 액정 매질.
  4. 이의 조작이 전기임상효과의 이용에 의거하고, 액정 매질을 함유하는 전광학 스위치 또는 표시소자에 있어서, 제3항에 따른 액정 매질을 함유함을 특징으로 하는 스위치 또는 표시소자.
