상기 실시예 1-1 내지 1-3 및 비교예 1-1 내지 1-3의 치약 조성물에 대한 구취 억제 효과를 측정하였다. 치아 우식을 가지고 있지 않은 남녀 30명을 선정하여동일한 식사를 하게 한 다음, Halimeter로 구취를 측정하여 초기의 구취 정도를 결정한 후 각각의 치약으로 일정 시간 동안 양치를 하고 1시간 경과 후 다시 Halimeter로 구취를 측정하였다. 이때 Halimeter의 사용법은 다음과 같다. 측정 전 2분 동안 입을 다물고 코로만 호흡을 하게 하였으며, 측정시에는 빨대를 약 1.5초 정도 입안으로 넣은 상태에서 약 15초 정도 유지하게 하였다. 이때 빨대가 혀에 닿지 않도록 하였으며, 입술은 약 3~4mm 정도 벌린 상태를 유지하게 하였다. Halimeter의 측정값은 ppb 단위인데, 각각의 실험 대상들로부터 얻어진 구취 측정값을 평균하여 각 치약의 구취 억제율을 구하였고, 그 결과를 하기 표 2에 나타냈다.The bad breath inhibitory effects on the toothpaste compositions of Examples 1-1 to 1-3 and Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-3 were measured. 표 2를 참조하면, 식사 후 생성된 구취는 양치 후 측정하였을 때 약효 성분이 전혀 들어있지 않은 비교예 1-1에서도 평균 33%의 억제율을 보였으나, 그 억제율은 크지가 않았다. 또한 잔소리졸과 글루콘산 구리를 각각 첨가한 비교예 1-2 및 1-3은 비교예 1-1에 비하여 구취 억제율이 상당히 증가하였으나, 잔소리졸과 글루콘산 구리를 상대적으로 소량 첨가한 실시예 1-1보다 구취 억제율이 오히려 작게 나타났다. 이로부터 잔소리졸과 글루콘산 구리를 함께 사용할 경우 서로 상승 작용을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 구강 내 구취 유발 미생물 살균제인 잔소리졸과 구취유발 물질 제거제로 구리 화합물을 함께 혼합 사용할 경우에 각 성분들의 상승 효과에 의해 구취를 보다 효율적으로 억제할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
