Description
The present invention relates to an organic light emitting display device and a method for manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a top emission type organic light emitting display device and a method for manufacturing the same.
Recently, as the interest in information displays increases and the demand for using portable information media increases, research and commercialization of lightweight and thin flat panel displays (FPDs) are being focused.
In the field of such a flat panel display, a liquid crystal display (LCD) is one of the display devices that is attracting attention because of its light weight and low power consumption.
As another display device, an organic light emitting display device is superior in a viewing angle and a contrast ratio compared to a liquid crystal display device because it is a self-emission type. In addition, since a backlight is not required, it is possible to be lightweight and thin, and is advantageous in terms of power consumption. In addition, there are advantages in that DC low voltage driving is possible and response speed is fast.
Hereinafter, the basic structure and operating characteristics of the organic light emitting display will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
1 is a diagram illustrating a light emitting principle of a general organic light emitting diode.
An organic light emitting display device generally includes an organic light emitting diode having the structure shown in FIG. 1 .
Referring to FIG. 1, an organic light emitting diode includes an
At this time, the
In the organic light emitting diode configured as described above, when positive (+) and negative (-) driving voltages are applied to the
An organic light emitting display device displays an image by arranging sub-pixels on which organic light emitting diodes having the above-described structure are formed in a matrix form and selectively controlling the sub-pixels with a data voltage and a scan voltage.
At this time, the organic light emitting display device is divided into a passive matrix method or an active matrix method using a TFT as a switching element. Among them, the active matrix method selects a sub-pixel by selectively turning on a TFT, which is an active element, and maintains light emission of the sub-pixel with a voltage maintained in a storage capacitor.
In addition, the organic light emitting display device may be classified into a top emission type, a bottom emission type, and a dual emission type according to a direction in which light is emitted.
The top emission type organic light emitting display device emits light in a direction opposite to a substrate on which sub-pixels are arranged. The top emission type organic light emitting display device has an advantage in that an aperture ratio can be increased compared to a back emission type organic light emitting display device in which light is emitted toward a substrate on which sub-pixels are arranged.
In such a top emission type organic light emitting display device, an anode is formed below an organic compound layer and a cathode is formed above the organic compound layer through which light is transmitted.
At this time, the cathode should be formed thin in order to be implemented as a semi-permeable film having a low work function. Therefore, the cathode has a high resistance.
In this way, a voltage drop (IR drop) occurs due to the high resistivity of the cathode in the top emission type organic light emitting display device. Accordingly, voltages of different levels are applied to each sub-pixel, resulting in non-uniformity in luminance or image quality. In particular, as the size of the display panel increases, the voltage drop may intensify.
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an organic light emitting display device capable of preventing a voltage drop of a cathode while simplifying a process in a top emission type organic light emitting display device and a manufacturing method therefor. there is

Next, the organic light emitting diode may include a
This organic light emitting diode is electrically connected to the driving thin film transistor DT. More specifically, a drain contact hole exposing the
That is, the
The
In addition, the
At this time, in the first embodiment of the present invention, the
The
At this time, FIG. 3 shows a case where the
The
The
In the case of the top emission method, the
Therefore, in the first embodiment of the present invention, in order to reduce the resistance of the
The
The
The
The
In this case, the
The
In the organic light emitting display device according to the first embodiment of the present invention, the contact area (a) connecting the
Therefore, in the second and third embodiments of the present invention, after forming the auxiliary electrode with a multi-layer structure of dissimilar metals having different etching rates (or etching rates), the contact space ( void) to make direct contact with the cathode. According to this, it is possible to reduce the resistance of the cathode while simplifying the process, which will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
5 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a part of the structure of an organic light emitting display device according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

The etching rate can be defined as the thickness or amount of dissolution of one material per unit time, and can be expressed as an etching ratio by relatively comparing the etching rates of two materials. In general, when expressing the etching ratio of two materials, it can be said that the faster the etching rate, the larger the etching rate.
However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the
To this end, at least three types of metals are used to form the upper, lower, and lowermost
That is, the lowermost
The patterning of the
For reference, Ag can be etched and precipitated by phosphoric acid or nitrate anions (according to the chemical reaction shown below).
2Ag + NO3 - + 3H- -> 2Ag+ + HNO2 + H2O2Ag + NO 3 - + 3H - -> 2Ag + + HNO 2 + H 2 O
2Ag + N3PO4 + 2H+ -> 2Ag+ + H3PO4 + 2H2O2Ag + N 3 PO 4 + 2H + -> 2Ag + + H 3 PO 4 + 2H 2 O
MoTi cannot be etched with this Ag alloy etchant. In the case of MoTi or Ti, H 2 O 2 and F components are required in the etchant to proceed with the etching process.
The oxidation process by the H 2 O 2 system is as follows.
Mo + 3H2O2 -> MoO3 + 3H2OMo + 3H 2 O 2 -> MoO 3 + 3H 2 O
Ti + 2H2O2 -> TiO2 + 2H2OTi + 2H 2 O 2 -> TiO 2 + 2H 2 O
And, MoO 3 and TiO 2 are dissolved and etched by F - ions as follows.
MoO3 + 3KHF2 -> MoF6 + 3KOHMoO 3 + 3KHF 2 -> MoF 6 + 3KOH
TiO2 + 2KHF2 -> TiF4 + 2KOHTiO 2 + 2KHF 2 -> TiF 4 + 2KOH
The lower
The upper
According to these etching conditions, when the ITO/Ag alloy/ITO of the
When the
In this case, since the upper
Among the multilayer structures of the
At this time, in FIG. 5, the case where the
As described above, according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the contact space within the
In addition, unlike the first embodiment described above, the organic light emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present invention makes direct contact between the
That is, as described above, since the resistance of the second electrode is high in the top emission type organic light emitting display device, luminance non-uniformity occurs within the panel when implemented in a large area. In order to compensate for this, an auxiliary electrode is required, but when the organic compound layer is deposited, the organic compound is also deposited on the auxiliary electrode, so that no contact between the second electrode and the auxiliary electrode is made. To solve this problem, a structure for assisting contact between the second electrode and the auxiliary electrode is required, which increases the number of masks and processes.
In contrast, in the organic light emitting display device according to the second embodiment of the present invention, when the
Similarly to the first embodiment of the present invention described above, the
