Description
본 발명은 초고도 가스 투과성(Dk) 재료 및 이의 제조; 및 보다 구체적으로는 Dk 값이 175보다 큰 초고도 Dk 재료; 및 보다 더 구체적으로는 강성 가스 투과성 콘택트 렌즈로 사용하기에 적합한 초고도 Dk에 관한 것이다.
초기에, 강성 콘택트 렌즈는 폴리(메틸 메타크릴레이트)로 구성되었고 산소에 대하여 불투과성이었다. 결과적으로, 이러한 렌즈의 착용자는 각막의 산소 부족으로 인한 눈의 피로(eye fatigue 및 eye strain)를 빠르게 호소하였다. 따라서, 콘택트 렌즈 과학은 강성 가스 투과성(RGP) 콘택트 렌즈를 포함한 실리콘 기반 콘택트 렌즈로 발전하였다.
