본 발명은 일반적으로 흡수 가먼트, 예를 들면 성인 요실금 가먼트, 어린이 기저귀 또는 배변 연습용 팬츠 및 기타와 함께 사용하기 위한 흡수 삽입물에 관한 것이다. 더욱 특히, 본 발명은 삽입물을 통과하는 유체의 흐름에 실질적으로 영향을 미치도록 된 하나 이상의 지연층을 갖는 흡수 삽입물에 관한 것이다.
흡수 가먼트는 오물로부터 의복을 보호하기 위해, 배변 연습 중인 유아, 및 요실금이 있는 성인등에게 널리 사용된다. 흡수 가먼트는 가먼트와 접촉하는 소변 또는 다른 신체 분비물의 양이 가먼트의 흡수 용량을 초과하지 않는 한 착용자의 의복을 보호하는 데 있어서 비교적 효과적이다. 그러나, 가먼트 교환 중에 많은 양의 배뇨 또는 여러번의 배뇨는 가먼트의 측면 밖으로, 및 착용자의 의복으로 신체 배출물의 유출을 일으킨다.

흡수층은 소변 또는 기타 신체 분비물을 흡수하고 모은다. 그런데, 제시된 바람직한 실시태양에는, 두 개의 흡수층이 있으며, 다른 실시태양에는 오직 한 개의 흡수층 또는 다수의 흡수층이 있을 수 있다. 흡수층 (42, 50)은 바람직하게 각각 48, 58로 보여진 고흡수성 물질로 만들어질 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 제1 흡수층 (42)의 흡수 물질은 래핑 시트 (43) 내에 포함될 수 있다(래핑 시트 (43)은 설명하기 위한 목적으로 뒤로 잡아당겨진 말단부 (47)에 의해 보여진다). 보여진 실시태양에서, 오직 흡수층 (42)의 흡수 물질 (48) 만이 래핑되지만, 다른 실시태양에서는 흡수층 (50)의 흡수 물질 (50) 역시 래핑되거나, 다른 실시태양에서, 임의의 층의 흡수 물질 어느 것도 래핑되지 않는다. 래핑 시트 (43)은 바람직하게 고습윤강도 셀룰로우즈성 티슈로부터 만들어진다. 별법으로 래핑 시트 (43)은 폴리(비닐 알콜)와 결합된 레이온 카디드 웹같은 부직 물질일 수 있다.
고 흡수성 물질 (48, 58)에 적절한 물질은 당 분야에 공지되어 있다. 바람직한 물질은 에어-폼드 나무 펄프 플러프 및(또는) 고흡수성 물질(폴리아크릴산, 폴리아크릴레이트 나트륨, 폴리아크릴아미드 같은 초흡수성 중합체(SAP); 펙틴, 구아검 및 물이끼(peat moss) 같은 다른 유기 물질; 또는 예를 들면 흡수성 점토 및 실리카 겔을 포함하는 무기 물질을 포함함)을 포함한다. 바람직하게 흡수 물질은 약 95 중량% 미만의 나무 펄프 플러프 및 약 5 중량% 이상의 고흡수성 물질을 포함한다. 특히 바람직한 실시태양에서, 흡수 물질 (48)은 약 76%의 나무 펄프 플러프 및 24%의 고흡수성 물질로 만들어지고, 흡수 물질 (58)은 약 90%의 나무 펄프 플러프 및 약 10%의 고흡수성 물질로 만들어진다. 고흡수성 물질이 포함되는 경우, 상기 물질은 분포되거나 또는 실질적으로 균일한 또는 불균일한 분포로 층 안에 달리 포함될 수 있다. 흡수 물질 (58)은 예를 들면 평방 센티미터당 약 0.05 내지 약 0.3 그램의 밀도 및 약 50 내지 약 700 gsm, 더욱 바람직하게는 약 496 gsm의 기초 중량을 갖는다. 나무 펄프 플러프의 바람직한 한 유형은, Ala.의 쿠사 파인스(Coosa Pines)의 U.S. Alliance Corporation으로부터 CR1654라는 상표명으로 구입가능한 것으로 침엽수 및 활엽수를 함유하는 표백된 고흡수성 술페이트 나무 펄프이다.

본 발명의 지연층 (60)은 흡수 삽입물 (20)의 흡수 용량을 최대화시키는 기능을 한다. 지연층은 삽입물을 지나는 유체의 흐름에 실질적으로 영향을 미치도록 작동한다. 본원에서 사용된 것 같은, "흐름에 실질적으로 영향을 미친다"는 것은 통상적인 흡수 물질 및 커버층만으로 만들어진 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름 프로파일에서는 예상되지 않을 정도까지, 지연층이 유체의 총 흐름을 실질적으로 바꾸거나 충돌하는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 실질적인 영향은 흐름 방향을 실질적으로 변화시킬 수 있어, 유체의 흐름이 실질적으로 방향을 바꾸게 한다. 예를 들면, 상기 유체는 유체의 방해받지 않은 흐름에 의해서는 일반적으로 도달되지 않을 흡수층의 영역으로 분포될 수 있다. 본원에서 사용시, "흐름 방향에 대한 실질적인 변화"는 삽입물을 횡단하는 유체의 총 흐름이 삽입물의 다른 층을 구성하는 재료를 통하여 유체의 중력, 정수압 및(또는) 위킹으로는 설명되지 않는 상당한 정도로 변화할 것이라는 것을 의미한다. 특히 바람직한 태양에서, 본 발명의 지연층은, 지연층과 접촉하기 전에는 일반적으로 신체향 외부 표면으로부터 가먼트향 외부 표면의 방향으로 이동하는 유체의 흐름 방향을 삽입물의 종방향 및 측방향에 의해 형성된 평면에 일반적으로 수직인 방향으로 실질적으로 변화시킨다. 흐름 방향의 실질적인 변화에 대체하거나, 또는 이에 더하여, 지연층은 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름을 부분적으로 저해할 수 있다. 본원에서 사용시, "부분적으로 저해"는 지연층이 삽입물을 통한 유체의 이동을 어느 정도 허용하면서, 유체의 속도를 떨어뜨리거나, 또는 특정 기간 후에 또는 일정 농도에서만 유체가 흐를 수 있게 하는 것을 의미한다.
본 발명의 지연층은 실질적으로 유체 불투과성인 재료, 또는 적어도 부분적 으로 유체 투과성인 재료로부터 제조될 수 있다. 부분적으로 투과성인 재료는 유체가 훨씬 느린 속도로 이동하게 함으로써 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름을 부분적으로 저해하도록 작용한다. 부분적으로 투과성인 적합한 재료의 예로는 천공된 플라스틱 및 열가소성 필름이 있다. 부분적으로 투과성인 재료로부터 제조된 지연층은 커버층(32, 34)보다 더 작은 유체 투과성을 가져야 한다.
지연층이 유체 불투과성인 재료로부터 제조될 경우, 상기 지연층은 유체를 흡수층의 원격 지역으로 방향을 바꾸거나 분포시키고(시키거나), 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름을 부분적으로 저해하는 것과 같이, 흐름 방향을 실질적으로 변화시킴으로써 유체의 이동에 실질적으로 영향을 미친다. 실질적으로 불투과성인 지연층에 적합한 재료는 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에틸렌 또는 나일론을 포함한다. 지연층에 특히 바람직한 재료는 적어도 부분적으로 수용성인 것들이다. 수용성 지연층을 사용하여, 상대적으로 다량과 접촉시 또는 삽입물이 포화될 경우에만 용해하면서, 삽입물을 통한 소량의 신체 분비물의 침투를 일시적으로 지연시킬 수 있다. 특히 바람직한 부분적으로 수용성인 재료는 폴리(비닐 알콜)(PVOH)이다. 폴리(비닐 알콜)로부터 제조된 지연층은 용해하기 전 150 ml까지의 소변을 흡수할 수 있다.

삽입물(30)은 또한 도 4에 접착부(38)으로 도시한 부착부를 포함한다. 필 스트립 또는 필름과 같은 탈착가능한 접착 커버층이 삽입물(20)이 사용될 때까지 접착 영역을 덮는다. 접착 커버층(80)이 제거되고, 삽입물(30)이 적절하게 위치되도록 흡수 가먼트에 단단하게 압착된다.
도 5는 본 발명의 흡수 시스템에 유용한 삽입물(120)의 다른 태양을 예시한다. 삽입물(120)은 특히 남성에 의한 사용을 위해 디자인되고, 남성 해부학에 더 적합하도록 치수화되고 구성된다. 삽입물(120)은 한 말단부(122)가 치수 W5'를 갖는 제2 말단부(126)보다 더 넓은 치수 W5를 갖는다는 점에서 비대칭이 되게 치수화되고 구성된다. 단지 예를 들자면, 전형적인 남성 성인 요실금 삽입물에서, W5는 약 12cm 내지 약 16 cm이고, W5'는 약 8 cm 내지 약 12 cm이다. 중심부(124)는 일반적으로 제1 말단부(122)와 제2 말단부(126) 사이에서 점점 가늘어진다.
삽입물(120)은 신체향 외부 표면을 형성하는 제1 커버층(130), 가먼트향 외부 표면을 형성하는 제2 커버층(도시하지 않음), 신체향 외부 표면에 가장 가까운 제1 흡수층(142), 제1 흡수층(142)에 인접한 제2 흡수층(150), 및 제2 흡수층(150)과 제2 커버층 사이의 지연층(160)을 포함한다. 제2 흡수층(150)은 일반적으로 제1 커버층(130)의 치수보다 더 작고 이에 비례하여, 제1 커버층(130)이 제2 커버층에 부착될 수 있는 가장자리 영역(128)을 남긴다. 제1 흡수층(142) 및 지연층(160)은 둘 다 대칭인 것으로 도시하였으나, 댜른 태양에서, 제1 흡수층(142) 및(또는) 지연층(160)은 비대칭일 수 있다. 또한, 삽입물의 다른 태양에서와 같이, 층의 배열을 변경할 수 있고, 더 많거나 더 적은 흡수층이 존재할 수 있다. 그러나, 중요하게도, 삽입물(120)의 바람직한 태양에서, 지연층(160)의 각 주 표면의 표면적은 가장 큰 흡수층(여기서는, 제2 흡수층(150))의 각 주 표면의 표면적보다 더 작다.

Claims (21)

  1. 신체향 외부 표면, 및 부분적으로 또는 완전히 유체 투과성이고 액체가 쉽게 통과할 수 있는 구멍 크기를 갖는 가먼트향 외부 표면,
    제1 주 표면 및 제2 주 표면을 갖는 하나 이상의 흡수층, 및
    제1 주 표면 및 제2 주 표면을 갖고, 삽입물을 통과하는 유체의 흐름에 실질적으로 영향을 미치도록 구성된 하나 이상의 수불용성이고 연속적인 유체 불투과성 지연층을 포함하며,
    상기 하나 이상의 수불용성이고 연속적인 유체 불투과성 지연층의 각 주 표면의 표면적이 상기 하나 이상의 흡수층 중 하나 이상의 각 주 표면의 표면적보다 더 작고,
    상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 상기 하나 이상의 흡수층과 상기 가먼트향 외부 표면 사이에 위치하는 것인,
    흡수 가먼트와 함께 사용되어 유체가 흡수 가먼트로 흐르는 것을 허용하도록 구성된 흡수 삽입물.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 삽입물을 통과하는 유체의 흐름 방향을 실질적으로 변화시키도록 구성된 것인 흡수 삽입물.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름을 부분적으로 저해하도록 구성된 것인 흡수 삽입물.

  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 제2 흡수층이 상기 하나 이상의 지연층과 상기 제1 흡수층 사이에 위치하는 것인 흡수 삽입물.
  12. 신체향 커버층, 및 부분적으로 또는 완전히 유체 투과성이고 액체가 쉽게 통과할 수 있는 구멍 크기를 갖는 가먼트향 커버층,
    상기 신체향 커버층 및 상기 가먼트향 커버층 사이에 위치되고, 제1 주 표면 및 제2 주 표면을 갖는 하나 이상의 흡수층, 및
    상기 신체향 커버층과 상기 가먼트향 커버층 사이에 위치하고, 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름에 실질적으로 영향을 미치도록 구성되며, 제1 주 표면 및 제2 주 표면을 갖는 하나 이상의 수불용성이고 연속적인 유체 불투과성 지연층을 포함하고,
    상기 하나 이상의 연속적인 유체 불투과성 지연층의 각 주 표면의 표면적이 상기 하나 이상의 흡수층 중 하나 이상의 각 주 표면의 표면적보다 더 작은 것인,
    흡수 가먼트와 함께 사용되어 유체가 흡수 가먼트로 흐르는 것을 허용하도록 구성된 흡수 삽입물.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 삽입물을 통과하는 유체의 흐름 방향을 실질적으로 변화시키도록 구성된 것인 흡수 삽입물.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 삽입물을 통한 유체의 흐름을 부분적으로 저해하도록 구성된 것인 흡수 삽입물.

    상기 하나 이상의 연속적인 유체 불투과성 지연층의 각 주 표면의 표면적이 상기 하나 이상의 흡수층 중 하나 이상의 각 주 표면의 표면적보다 더 작고,
    상기 하나 이상의 지연층이 상기 하나 이상의 흡수층과 상기 가먼트향 외부 표면 사이에 위치하는 것인,
    흡수 가먼트와 함께 사용되어 유체가 흡수 가먼트로 흐르는 것을 허용하도록 구성된 흡수 삽입물을 포함하는 흡수 시스템.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 상기 흡수 삽입물을 상기 흡수 가먼트에 탈착가능하게 부착하도록 구성된 부착부를 더 포함하는 흡수 시스템.
  21. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 가먼트향 커버층이 상기 흡수 삽입물을 상기 흡수 가먼트에 탈착가능하게 부착하도록 구성된 부착부를 더 포함하는 것인 흡수 삽입물.
