Claims (9)
- PWM(pulse width modulation) 유니트와 LED 구동 소자를 포함하는 PWM 방식의 LED 구동소자에 있어서,상기 LED 구동소자는 LED 밝기에 대해 미리 정해진 명암값을 받아서 PWM 유니트에 전달하고, 상기 PWM 유니트는 미리 정한 명암값이 대응하는 PWM 사이클에서 듀티 사이클로 ON/OFF 신호를 발생시킨 다음 ON/OFF신호를 변조시키고, 변조신호는 요구하는 밝기를 유지하기 위해 LED 구동 회로를 통해 LED로 출력되며,상기 PWM 유니트는 더 높은 그레이-스케일 해상도의 한 개의 신호부터 상대적으로 더 낮은 그레이-스케일 해상도를 가진 두개 이상의 신호로 ON/OFF 신호를 변조시켜, 상기LED는 더 큰 리프레쉬 레이트에 의해 더욱 자주 발광하게 되고, 변조 전후의 LED의 밝기는 시청자에게 동일하거나 비슷하게 느껴지는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 ON/OFF 신호의 PWM 사이클은 메이저 온 사이클과 마이너 온 사이클로 구성된 포함한 연속적인 ON 지속기간을 가지고 있고,상기 PWM 유니트는 상기 메이저 온 사이클을 메이저 온 서브 사이클로 정의된 둘이상의 부분으로 분할하고, 알고리즘에 따라 PWM 사이클에서 메이저 온 서브 사이클을 분배하는 것에 의해 ON/OFF 신호를 변조시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM 방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 PWM 유니트는 또 마이너 온 사이클을 마이너 온 서브 사이클로 각각 정의되는 두개 이상의 부분으로 분할시키고, 그 다음에 메이저 온 서브 사이클로 분배하는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 메이저 온 사이클은 균등하게 분할되어 동일하게 분배되는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 PWM 유니트 출력 변조신호는 클럭을 기준으로 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 PWM 유니트는 식(Ⅰ)에 따라 2n 클럭을 가진 하나의 PWM사이클을 분할하고,2n=(2m-1)×2k×2n-m-k+2k×2n-m-k (Ⅰ)(여기에서 n은 양의 정수, m은 0 또는 n보다 적은 양의 정수, k는 0 또는 m보다 적은 양의 정수)상기 PWM 사이클은 각각 (2m-1)×2k 클럭을 가진 2m-n-k 서브 사이클과 2k× 2n-m-k 클럭을 가진 하나의 서브 사이클로 구성된 2n-m-k+1 서브 사이클 또는 각각 2m×2k 클럭을 가진 2n-m-k서브 사이클로 분할 (여기에서 2k는 주파수 분할 계수)되는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 PWM 유니트는 하나의 PWM 사이클에서 식 (Ⅱ)에 따라 M클럭을 가진 연속적인 ON 지속기간을 분할하고,M=A×2k×2n-m-k+B (Ⅱ)(여기에서 n은 양의 정수, m은 0 또는 n보다 적은 양의 정수, k는 0 또는 m보다 적은 양의 정수, M은 2n보다 적은 양의 정수, A는 0 또는 M보다 적은 양의 정수, B는 0 또는 2k×2n-m-k 보다 적은 양의 정수)상기 메이저 온 사이클은 A×2k×2n-m-k 클럭을 갖고, 상기 마이너 온 사이클은 B 클럭을 갖고, M클럭은 각각 A×2k클럭을 가진 2n-m-k 서브 사이클 과 B클럭을 가 진 하나의 서브 사이클로 구성된 2n-m-k +1 서브 사이클 또는, A×2k+i 클럭을 가진 2n-m-k 서브 사이클로 분할 (여기에서 i는 0또는 2k와 같거나 적은 양의 정수이고, 각 서브 사이클로 부터의 i의 합계는 B) 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 PWM 유니트는 M개의 온 클럭을 이용 2n클럭을 지닌 하나의 PWM 사이클을(a) PWM 사이클을 A×2k개의 온 클럭과 함께 각각 (2m-1)×2k 클럭을 지닌 2n-m-k 개의 서브 사이클과 B개의 온 클럭과 함께 2k×2n-m-k 클럭을 지닌 하나의 서브 사이클로 구성된 (2n-m-k+1) 서브 사이클로 분할하거나 또는(b) PWM 사이클을 (A×2k+i) 온 클럭을 가지고 각각 2m×2k클럭을 지닌 2n-m-k서브 사이클로 분할(여기에서 n은 양의 정수, m은 0 또는 n보다 적은 양의 정수, k는 0 또는 m보다 적은 양의 정수, M은 2n보다 적은 양의 정수, A는 0 또는 M보다 적은 양의 정수, B는 0 또는 2k×2n-m-k 보다 적은 양의 정수, i는 0또는 2k와 같거나 적은 양의 정수이고, 각 서브 사이클로부터의 i의 합계는 B)하는 것을 특징으로 하 는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 ON/OFF 신호의 듀티 사이클은 변조 전후에도 유지되는 것을 특징으로 하는 PWM방식의 발광 다이오드 구동소자.
