Abstract
Description
Claims (12)
- 한 쌍의 기판과 상기 기판들 사이에서 포개진 액정층을 가지며, 화소전극과 공통전극이 소정의 간격을 가지도록 교호(交互)적으로 배치되어 상기 기판에 평행한 전기장이 상기 액정층에서 발생되는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치에 있어서,상기 화소전극에 공급되는 전력을 제어하기 위한 TFT소자의 드레인전극과 소스전극 사이에서 발생되는 전기장의 상기 기판에 평행한 성분은 상기 액정층의 러빙방향과 동일한 방향을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 드레인전극과 상기 소스전극의 대향단들은 러빙방향에 수직한 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 적어도 상기 TFT소자 상에 있는 상기 액정층의 러빙방향은 상기 드레인전극과 상기 소스전극 사이에서 발생된 전기장의 상기 기판에 평행한 성분의 방향과 같도록 설정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 TFT소자 상에 있는 상기 액정층의 러빙은 상기 TFT소자 상에 있는 상기 액정층의 마스크 러빙처리에 의하여 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 전체 액정의 러빙방향은 상기 화소전극과 상기 공통전극으로 형성된 빗모양전극의 종축방향에 평행하게 설정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 TFT소자의 반도체층은 러빙방향에 평행하거나 수직한 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 광의 조사에 의하여 배향되는 배향막을 이용함으로써 광의 조사에 의하여 부분적으로 다른 배향 방향을 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 광의 조사에 의하여 배향되는 배향막을 이용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 음유전상수의 이방성을 가진 액정이 이용되어 상기 액정층을 형성하고, 액정의 배향은 상기 드레인전극과 상기 소스전극 사이에서 발생되는 전기장의 방향에 수직한 방향으로 주어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 드레인전극, 상기 소스전극, 및 아몰퍼스 실리콘이 상기 액정층의 러빙방향과 같도록 경사진 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 드레인전극과 상기 소스전극 사이에서 발생된 전기장의 상기 기판에 평행한 성분은 러빙방향에 평행하게 설정되며, 적어도 표시영역의 상기 화소전극과 상기 공통전극은 러빙방향에 대하여 경사지는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 드레인전극과 상기 소스전극 사이에서 발생된 전기장의 상기 기판에 평행한 성분은 러빙방향에 평행하게 설정되며, 상기 화소전극과 상기 공통전극은 L형상의 구조로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스 액정표시장치.
