図1には、実施形態1の表示装置の製造方法の一例を示す、表示装置の分解図が示されている。図1に示されるように、本実施形態の表示装置の製造方法は、可撓性を有する基板2の上に複数の表示素子3aを形成することによって表示パネル3を形成し、表示パネル3の外縁に沿ってその外縁の一部または全部に、表示パネル3の外周部と係合する保持部材4を設けることを含んでいる。図1は、表示パネル3の外縁の全部に保持部材4を設ける例を示している。本実施形態の表示装置の製造方法は、さらに、表示パネル3の基板2が載置されるべき表面5aを有する支持部材5を用意し、支持部材5の表面5aに基板2を載置し、支持部材5の表面5aに保持部材4を接合し、基板2を、保持部材4と支持部材5の表面5aとの間の接着強度よりも弱い強度で、支持部材5の表面5aに密着させる、ことを含んでいる。また、本実施形態の表示装置の製造方法は、図1に示されるように、支持部材5の表面5a、または、基板2における表示素子3aに向く面の反対面に、粘着剤から構成される弱粘着層6を形成することをさらに含んでいてもよい。その場合、弱粘着層6を介して、基板2が支持部材5の表面5aに密着されてもよい。
つぎに、実施形態2の表示装置の製造方法について説明する。まず、本実施形態の表示装置の製造方法によって製造される表示装置10について、図9Aおよび図9Bを参照して説明する。なお、図9A、図9Bおよび後述の図10において、図2および図3と同様の構成要素については同一の符号が付され、その詳細な説明は適宜省略される。
本発明の態様1に係る表示装置の製造方法は、可撓性を有する基板の上に複数の表示素子を形成することによって表示パネルを形成し、前記表示パネルの外縁に沿って前記外縁の一部または全部に、前記表示パネルの外周部と係合する保持部材を設け、前記表示パネルの前記基板が載置されるべき表面を有する支持部材を用意し、前記支持部材の前記表面に前記基板を載置し、前記支持部材の前記表面に前記保持部材を接合し、前記保持部材と前記支持部材の前記表面との間の接着強度よりも弱い強度で前記基板を前記支持部材の前記表面に密着させる、ことを含んでいることを特徴としている。

Claims (7)
- 可撓性を有する基板の上に複数の表示素子を形成することによって表示パネルを形成し、
前記表示パネルの外縁に沿って前記外縁の一部または全部に、前記表示パネルの外周部と係合する保持部材を設け、
前記表示パネルの前記基板が載置されるべき表面を有する支持部材を用意し、
前記支持部材の前記表面に前記基板を載置し、
前記支持部材の前記表面に前記保持部材を接合し、
前記保持部材と前記支持部材の前記表面との間の接着強度よりも弱い強度で前記基板を前記支持部材の前記表面に密着させる、
ことを含む、表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記基板と前記表示素子との間および前記表示素子の上のいずれか、または両方に、非透湿性の材料を用いて少なくとも二層の膜を積層することによってバリア膜を形成することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記支持部材の前記表面、または、前記基板における前記表示素子に向く面の反対面に、粘着剤から構成される弱粘着層を形成することをさらに含み、
前記弱粘着層を介して前記基板を前記支持部材の前記表面に密着させる、請求項1または2に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記弱粘着層の粘着力以上の粘着力を有している強粘着層を、前記弱粘着層と前記基板との間、または、前記弱粘着層と前記支持部材との間に設けることをさらに含んでいる、請求項3に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記保持部材を設けることは、前記保持部材となる枠体であって内壁に溝を有する枠体を用意し、前記基板を前記支持部材の前記表面に載置する前に前記表示パネルの外縁部を前記溝に挿入することを含んでいる、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記表示パネルに配線を接続することをさらに含み、
前記保持部材は、前記表示パネルと前記配線との接続部を覆うように、前記表示パネルの前記外縁の一部または全部に設けられる、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記保持部材を前記表示パネルの前記外縁の全周に渡って枠状に設け、かつ、前記保持部材における枠状の形状の内側および外側に通じる吸気口を前記保持部材に形成し、
前記保持部材を前記支持部材の前記表面に接合した後に、前記吸気口を用いて前記保持部材における枠状の形状の内側から気体を吸引することによって前記基板を前記支持部材の前記表面に密着させる、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
