Claims

A luminaire, the luminaire comprising:
a light emitting diode (LED) engine including a plurality of LEDs configured to emit visible light;
a housing defining a cavity , wherein the LED engine and waveguide are positioned within a first end portion of the housing that includes a front portion of the luminaire;
wherein the plurality of LEDs of the light emitting diode (LED) engine surround side edges of the waveguide and are configured to emit visible light in a direction toward the waveguide;
a secondary element configured to provide a secondary service, said secondary element being positioned rearwardly of said waveguide and communicating with said first end portion of said housing; , positioned within the cavity between a second end portion of the housing comprising a rear portion of the luminaire ;
the waveguide includes a plurality of holes through a front surface of the waveguide, the plurality of holes allowing sound to be transmitted from the secondary element to the environment of the luminaire; or , to be received by said secondary element from said environment of said luminaire.
